Thanks to Ma2000 who made a change in votes, who some are first time voters and they form big part of voting population. They didn’t consider the history of the country like those born in 50s,60s,70s when casting their votes. You've raised a very relevant and poignant point about the long timeline set by "Agenda 2063" for Africa's development goals. The year 2063 indeed feels distant for goals aimed at addressing urgent challenges like poverty, infrastructure gaps, and economic underdevelopment. It's frustrating when Africa, rich in natural resources, continues to struggle with issues that other regions have already addressed or are making significant progress on. The notion that Africa's resources support many developed economies, while its own nations face poverty and underdevelopment, highlights a critical issue: the continent's wealth isn't fully benefiting its people. There's also a broader question about how to mobilize African countries and leaders to act more urgently. Perhaps, as you suggested, a shift in perspective is needed, one that frames these development goals as immediate imperatives rather than long-term aspirations. This could mean advocating for shorter-term milestones, stronger accountability measures, and a reevaluation of how partnerships with other nations are structured to ensure that Africa's resources lead to genuine, sustained improvement for its people.

The UDC has promised to increase wages, pension and student allowances by 100% or more with little to no clear strategy as to how that will be achieved considering the low demand on diamonds. It's highly unlikely he will achieve his promises. It is worth noting that he is friends with a known mining criminal Zunaid Moti. But he won and only time will judge. As Batswana, we hope it will be for the better.
