My cat had ataxia after starting phenobarbital. It was scary because no one talked to me about the way it would affect her. I appreciate your approach. I’ve been using the app Epsy to help track seizures, side effects, aura, doc appointments. It’s helpful. Also help with medication reminders.

So sad to see this, our dog daisy has seizures and has been on Epiphen for 2 years now and in the beginning it worked wonders but unfortunately after 2 year the medication has started to wear off and the seizures have returned on a daily basis. I have put her on L-Taurine which is a natural amino acid, and its very good with brain dysfunction, she has been on this for 2 weeks and the seizures stopped on the first day.

I am not a vet but re-homed a dog that very shortly after had seizures. Thank you very much for sharing this all, its been really helpful and now i can understand the Vets diagnosis process. I found with the anal valium that when the dog seizures the rectal area is in spasm and the liquid runs out again, so the Intranasal Madazalam could be something I can ask for. I think next the MRI and Spinal exam should be done as blood tests came back all normal. We had the dog vaccinated for a new passport and one side effect i had read was seizures in very rare cases, but we obviously don't know the dogs history as she is 11 and we re-homed her. But we will do the two extra exams with our Vet. Thank you so much Dr Wonderful Wong! Very well presented!

My girl Pepper, a 2 yr old 24lb poodle, had a seizure for the first time about a week ago. It was so scary. She was in it for almost 29 minutes, and I say this because she had one and went right back into it again without any break period. I had also looked at my call log on my phone as I was on the phone when she first started having it. She was gonna be my breeder dog, but I'm having her fixed soon as it's never a good thing to breed a dog with epilepsy.

@wischfulthinking it was so scary. She has been on meds ever since and is doing well now. It didn't seem to affect her other than her being very, very clingy

Very interesting and informative webinar. My question relates to dosing protocol when a dog exhibits a distinct seizure susceptibility pattern (idiopathic epilepsy). For example, assume that all tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures occur at the same time early morning clustered around 6:00 am for an extended period of time on Levetiracetam (LEV). In this case, if the seizure frequency necessitates a dose increase, the recommendation is to distribute the dose equally over 24 hours, or every 8 hours on standard release LEV. What's the argument against applying the LEV dose increase only to the dosing interval in which the seizures are observed, e.g., 3:00 am to 11:00 am? What is the science behind equal doses over 24 h?

Hi! My 3month old mini schnauzer just had her episode a while ago. I think it started when he was 1week old, his body became stiff like a statue for few seconds then softened as if he wasn’t breathing. Now he still have episodes, stiff legs, falls on its side, there’s a head turn always to the left arched back. After watching your video, I wonder if my puppy also have vestibular disease as well. When in normal condition,he’s having a hard time walking without falling, slightly bowed head while walking, can’t poop without falling. The vet gave him phenobarb without even performing neurological exams and blood tests. I went to a animal hospital but they didn’t give me the exact diagnosis, but they changed the phenobarbital to steroids. II hope there are also experts here in Manila to help our furbabies from experiencing this.

I have a wolf/dog that has had seizures since 2019, and he is 10yr now. he's on Keppra and KBROVET. my dog is very unsteady in the back end, and yesterday he started not wanting to take his pills. what do you think about cbd
@SEVNeurology2 жыл бұрын
I’d have your vet look into why he might not want to eat/take pills. Could be unrelated to the seizures and meds. I’d also consider the dose and blood level of the kbrovet. Currently no evidence to suggest CBD is helpful. And switching from Keppra and kbrovet may not be needed.
