Thank you for this video. Your mindfulness of stopping filming with more people in the store was like the cherry 🍒 on the top for me 🙏 so thoughtful.

Brilliant, I'm going to Shinjuku in December and will be putting this on my to do list. Thank you.

I like Sekaido. I went to their branches before, they're good, too. After visiting the Shinjuku store, it's becoming a routine for my Tokyo visits. It's almost always well stocked and busy. It's really hard to beat the collection and the price. Highly recommended. Thanks for sharing.

LOVE! I started from oils and now in watercolor 😂 the lovely coincidence is because of my first Japan art haul (which includes a crazy amount from Sekaido) was when I finally feel like my supplies should step up to better quality. I think it’s because the prices are so much more affordable than Aus prices. And the blessing of ending up with an abundance of supplies, is that they don’t feel as precious to use. Love your videos as always! Leti x

I'm in Australia too and also find our pricing ridiculously expensive not to mention often in most stores there's usually quite a limited range of brands. I will often look online from other countries like Amazon us, or Amazon Japan and even Jackson's from the UK can often be cheaper than Amazon au when the currency conversion rate is taken into account. Art in Australia is very cost prohibitive especially when the cost of living is also through the roof.

Ya, this art store is really big & overwhelming! It really contains a large range of products! If I were to step in there, I might be confused as to what to buy. Everything looks so good! Thanks for sharing!👍👍

I guarnente you Blick, Jerry’s, and Jackson’s website has a larger inventory than this 😂 if any difference, it’s a whole lot more expensive and harder to find what you are looking for in a physical store

Oh wow if I went there, you wouldn’t find me until 2026. With three carts filled, trying to find a fourth.

Thanks Jillian. I will be visiting Sekaido in about four weeks time. We are staying in a hotel a few hundred metres from the store. I am looking forward to seeing the range of watercolours and pigments! I think it will be a bit painful on my wallet!

Wow that was interesting! I haven't been in an art store physically for a while now so this was fun 🥰

You cannot miss niconeco zakkaya in the East Village. IMO, the very best Japanese stationery in NYC!!

Thank you for sharing this amazing video, you have added a dream destination to my wish list! This store looks like a "candy store" for artist. For me, buying new art supplies ignites my imagination and inspires me to be more creative.

Someday if I ever visit Japan, Sekkaido is definitely on my bucket list. I'd just stand there star struck for a bit before finding my way though xD

Thankyou, Lillian for this great look at this store. I'm hoping to go to Japan from Australia in 2025. Ì am totally thrilled to know of this store and I will be going there definitely. I hope I have such restraint as you have! I spotted a shelf full of Kuretake gansai tambi palettes as you passed by and I nearly (p'd my pants!)...I may even arrange my accommodation to be close to this store....I may need more than one visit!....no I must hunt through your blog to see how you did with water oils.....never heard of them....❤ see you...😊

I wish too!!! but maybe it's good that it's far away... good for my bank account... i can't seem to decide if having it close or far is worse for my account as I write this... hahaha

Haha I always buy colors based on rather or not I like their hue😂 I am a sucker for Japanese art supplies shopping vids and it surprises me everytime how people just (more or less) choose the same kind of things. Including myself. I have so many of the things you and others chosen. But... I also went berserk on my wallet there😅

Thanks for sharing. I got over stimulated just watching the video! So many choices and colors. Wow! I'm curious... could you address the pricing? Was there a big price difference to get a large selection compared to the US? Lisa

I get good quality supplies even though I am still beginning. It’s so much easier to work on my skill when I don’t need to struggle with lower quality supply issues. I do have some more basic stuff so I can play around and experiment though.

I only use watercolor as my medium of choice. I only use the Daniel Smith brand because I wanted something high quality. I am also a minimalist that did not want a shit load of supplies.

One of my favorite stores. The truth is in painting or art, craft, etc. one who doesn’t start with cheap art supplies doesn’t understand the quality of good art supplies. Better to grown in experiences than to cheapen one’s own experiences. B the time your old hopefully your paintings will be worth more than less.

What an amazing store, i would love to visit a store like this, however it would be very dangerous to my finances, ha ha. Unfortunately in my country the stores are very small with quite a limited range of products and they are priced usually at least double the prices that you can find online. I have to buy all my supplies online and even then not all brands can be found but its still a lot cheaper than in person at the local store. Even online our country pays more in many cases than buying from other countries even accounting for conversion rates of currency. This place would be a dream but it would take me years to save enough to buy everything I would want to try, then id have the problem of getting it shipped home as im sure id buy so much it might not fit on the plane. If i ever won a lottery this is what I'd do with it.
