I recently went through that mental inquest Limmy was going through of wondering whether I'm getting too old for games (I'm 36). The game that did it was, of all games, Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga on Game Boy Advance, a child friendly babys first RPG. I just couldnt get the button combos for the special attacks down. My mind felt just too slow for it. It didnt help that I was playing it late at night when I was tired.

Well I grew up with that game and those button combos are pretty hard, requires you to do near frame perfect inputs without any visual indicator on the highest setting. I often just don't bother using them when I play it now. I'm 26.

Well, there are now a lot of large players who are good at computer games and are now in their 40s and 50s, with players such as Daigo Umehara currently playing Street Fighter at the age of 41-42. Most of the designers and producers of these games (especially the OG designers and programmers of the 1980s and 1990s)are now in their 60s and still developing games or are still active in a major or minor capacity in the computer game industry. You're never "too old" or "too young" to learn mechanics in ANY game, regardless of difficulty. It's the position I've held since I was 12, that was back in 2010 when Limmy's Show was still airing on British Television.

On a serious note though, it has to suck seeing the same stale jokes and "hero of our time" commentary. Especially when under it all, he's a man trying to do what he loves and get through games that are in honesty quite/very challenging. He's a great comedian and a very funny person but I think people ought to start being a bit nicer or just more measured. This is literally exactly how/why people quit. When/if he does. There will be loads of people talking about how much they wish he would come back etc. But their behaviour in moments like this will have led up to that.
