Another way to do it (and arguably simpler) is get behind him, use contact medicine, walk up to right behind him and use mist raven (dont press any directions, so u go up) and when u appear above him u can death blow.

Just did it on PC with the newest version, make sure when throwing the ashes, you step back a little bit, if you dont move the monk doesnt either, also you dont need to wait till the animation ends you can just spam throw them, but make sure you step back a little bit, i also thought it was patched as i did it on my 2nd try, but i can confirm it still works perfectly

If you’re struggling with this, stand in the bush at the bottom of the stairs and throw the ash from there and move back slightly with each throw. It will pull the monk MUCH closer than standing near her and trying to pull her back. That + a few firecracker throws and she’ll be more than close enough. :)

@@TheShmrsh I’ve done it on the most recent patch on Xbox (unless there’s been once since) and older versions of ps4. It’s doable but much more difficult in recent versions. I have a vid of it from Xbox on this patch I believe. The timing and appearance of the deathblow marker were very very short and very difficult to time correctly. It took me days of attempts.

Fistful of Ash and Shinobi Firecracker was enough. But unlike the tutorial states. Do not wait for animation to end. (Which if you pay attention to the video you can see he's not waiting either)

Thank you, wasted my last Gaichin’s Sugar after the Gun Fort, because I’ve waited for the animation to stop. Gave it a go, died, and then restarted all over - turns out you can sneak by even without popping Gaichin’s items too. So I did, she spawned and wasn’t aware or in combat.

Yep. This worked for me yesterday. Spammed the fistful of ash and fireworks before she walked back to her starting point. Took three tries to get the jump right for deathblow symbol.

still works as of February 18th 2022, im on xbox, you don't even need snap seeds, just make sure you hit ALL 10 of your ashes, my tip is do ash, slightly move back, firecracker, then ash, move back and firecracker until she's basically on/right in front of the bush by the stone pillar

for a quicker alternative, if you have mist raven, go behind her use contact medicine then use mist raven (don't press any direction keys) then death blow when you appear above. you need to be very close to her when doing this.

Still works as of 11/14/2020. If you don't have the items but you do have the ceremonial tanto and long spark firecrackers. I had 17 spirit emblems and used the tanto BEFORE the fight. Also, you don't need the stealt sugar but you cannot sprint through the area or she'll see you. I also had one stealth talent so that's necessary. And be very careful as this method sometimes doesn't bring her close enough

Still works and just did on PS4 version 2/26/2022. Like others here have said get close to it and spam ash and/or firecrackers continuously (don’t pause in between). For the deathblow marker to show the monk needs to be parallel with the second rock to the right (closer one to the pillar you jump off of). Watch the video closely and pause to see what I’m talking about.

4-13-21 still works. First try he was stepping forward rather than backward. Thought maybe they had patched it. Second time i tried, (with only ash and spin fireworks) he came back far enough to get the kill. Thanks!

Can’t believe this still works. If anyone is looking for that one comment thats recent I can confirm it works on xbox and what I did was use 3 snap seeds, spam my fistful of ash while slowly backing up, then spammed some fire cracker for good measure. I didn’t even use all my spirit emblems she was basically right in front of the stairs lol. But if for some reason u need any more firecrackers u can use the ceremonial blade and cheese some more fire crackers. Also something I thought of is u can use mist raven from the top of the lil lantern if u pop a contact medicine it should give you some good height if u still need some.

Still works today as of 12/9/21 😂. You don’t need snap seeds at all. Sit at the bottom of the stairs and just toss ash and your basic firecrackers. Just be very careful with your jump attempts though lol.

The timing of using these items is important: If you wait too long between using the items, the Monk returns to his original position (so doesn't really move towards the pillar). If you use the items too fast, the distance the Monk moves backwards is too small. Took me some tries though... Hope this helps!
