He became a Demon not because he was seeking the destruction of Ashina. He was a old friend of Ishin (the old sword saint). He wanted to help Ashina Ishin to protect this country from the invation of Interior Ministry. That's why he took his last breath to protect the Ashina castle front door. But he could't control the hatred flame within, and became the Demon. If you listened their conversation from outside the temple, when you talk to him again he will say "You will do it when the time comes" meaning "You will be the one to stop me if I get lost in hatred"

And Sekiro knew that he Demon was sculptor.(He answered "Yes" at 9:22 in my game) I don't know if it's because the different route and missing dialogues(many related hidden dialogues) cause the different answers or it's just a mistake in the translation (the conversation in Japanese).

Brilliant. This is what I love about FromSoftware. For the absolute melts of us , we seek this stuff out and speculate for years like nerds. This is the shit I love as much as actually playing the games. I mean how awful is the Armoured Warriors death? Now I know the story I just don’t wanna do it. Same with the Demon but you gotta do what’s right. Great stuff man and I’ll sub and watch the rest. Let’s pray that they do a massive DLC if we are lucky or maybe some secrets over the next year will come out to add to the lore etc I have loved this game massively and I can’t see the GHOST game being as good as this to be honest. I knew what I was getting with Sekiro and to me they are making better games with every single release. What a great bloody developer for sticking to their guns and keeping it their own way. This will be another cult classic in gaming history. When you think about it they will leave a legacy like no other developer if they stay on this path. To be honest they can make a game about anything, any location with any story with this formula and it can work. A Sci Fi game that is with swords of some kind. Vikings , anything works. After this I’m just buzzing for whatever they do next. I’d love Bloodborne2 but at the same time I really hope they don’t cos it shows they are always thinking ahead and not milking it. For example look at Demon Souls, it really stands on its own to an extent and it has this cult status cos of that. Sekiro could easily have a sequel but again I hope they now move to another direction cos they are so great at it. I’d love maybe one that’s a warped version of Greek mythology vs a cyclops etc. It can go anywhere. I’m waffling now but wicked video

Awesome video, I didn't know for sure who it was. An observation I had while listening is that: his fight (the Demon of Hatred) is arguably the single most Dark Souls-y fight in the game... and all he sees is fire, a most central theme in DS, with the age of fire. In a thematic way, he seems to serve as the connective tissue that ties the worlds of Sekiro and Dark Souls together. I mean, thinking of Artorias' busted arm - I know better than to put it past FromSoft to make creative decisions about boss fights based on what serves the in-universe logic and lore of the games.

There's a small bit missing in this. I don't know the trigger conditions but you can get to a point where Wolf *does* know the demon of hatred was the sculptor. And both of the final dialogues you mentioned change.

Is there any other lore that can be found in Sekiro? I've seen a few videos on Sekiro lore and they all are about either Robert and his armor clad dad or the sculptor as the DOH.

You can give sake to Emma and Isshin and get some backstory for them. Other than that the rest seems to reside in quest and skill texts that the game gives you as you play anyway.

If you speak with the old woman after defeating gyoubu, she'll say something like "war will never stop and where will the hatred go" is really something for me. kinda foreshadow this stuff early in the story.

Don't forget that if you give dragonspring sake to isshin he will tell you that fools would come out of nowhere asking for a drink, fools with illusion techniques (lady butterfly) and fools with half made prosthetic arm (orangutan) and the fool who is owl (master Shinobi owl) who despite his massive structure would fall after the first cup of sake.

It annoys me that Emma didn't join us for this fight...think when Wolf asked her why she learned her sword skill she said something along the line to kill the demon...
@SmoughTown5 жыл бұрын
That’s right, she was taught by Isshin for the precise reason that she ‘wants to be able to fight a demon, if one comes’ however the sculptor tells us that he doesn’t want Emma to do it, that he wants it to be us (in a dialogue after eavesdropping on him and emma), so I think it’s right we spare Emma from that

Sekiro recognizing the sculptor as the demon of hatred is unusually direct for From Software games. Maybe it's because we have a talking protagonist instead of a silent one.

Sekiro actually can learn about demon being Sekijo, I.e. the sculpturor. Following is how: When you collected both the flower and the stone, Emma will appear in the temple. Eavesdrop their conversation, where Emma said she will (kill him) when it happens (he became Shura). Then in the evening, when Sekijo is alone, go to him a few times. There will be a few times when he simply praise Sekiro for his growth and such. Eventually he will beg Sekiro to promise to kill him (he will say "I want you to do it,...") so that Emma can be spared of such trauma. Then Sekiro will know that the demon is Sekijo when he see it, mumbling "sculpturor..." upon encounter and saying goodbye upon killing him. Know that if you want to go for Purification Route, you must get Sekijo to beg Sekiro before Emma go to Sekijo for advise, or else Emma will never leave, and Seikjo will never talk about this in her presence.

I received a piece of dialogue from Emma (the sculptor's friend) that explained why she learned to fight with a sword. She says "you never know when you'll face a demon". Could that be talking about the sculptor? Did she know he would turn and she would have to kill him one day but when the time came, she was busy taking care of Kuro and Isshin in the tower?
@j.b.aw.69685 жыл бұрын
*spoiler* The demon this is referring to would be Sekiro as in the ending where he becomes shura he is also required to kill Emma. Obviously the character Emma doesn't know that but I think this is what the writer is hinting at.
@jimmietherustle36225 жыл бұрын
@@j.b.aw.6968 No. Emma was specifically referring to the Sculptor. There are a couple of conversations she has with the Sculptor that you can eavesdrop on where she implies that she'll put the Sculptor out of his misery should the future he keeps seeing comes to pass. After one of them, if you talk to him, he asks you to be the one to kill him. This unlocks some dialogue for Wolf when he encounters the Demon of Hatred.

Shura ending: Emma: I have witnessed Shura once before. The very same stirs inside of you." Ishin says: "Shura, I never did think I'd have to kill your kind again" Also, there's also a hidden dialogue when you kill the Demon. Basically, if you do some talking with the sculptor, some eavesdropping, the dialogue when you kill him + the dialogue with the old lady near the demon fight change.
