Just few things to add and this guide would be perfect. 1-Sabimaru completely stuns the female warriors (Okami Warriors) in the divine palace once they get poisoned making it easy to finish them off, making it very useful in that area. 2-Mist Raven can be used at any time if you combine it with contact medicine (which applies weak poison that shields you from stronger poisons), with this you can basically teleport at will without waiting for an enemy to hit you since you are already taking very slow and weak damage from contact poison which is negligible but makes the Mist Raven trigger at all times. 3-The Whistle can be used to make animals enemies attack each other.

I wish you’d also mentioned the frenzy effect that the finger whistle has on animals. You can get wolves to turn on their masters, and that distraction can save your life in tricky spots. It also makes it very easy to deal with not just groups of wolves but groups of monkeys as well because you just blow it once and they will all immediately go nuts and start attacking each other. I feel like this point was definitely worth mentioning when you covered the finger whistle because that’s arguably its most important function, instead of just luring enemies as you described it.

I have put in almost 200 hours into this game, now I know how to use the tools properly. Also Sabimaru is useful for the enemies at Fountainhead palace, as Sabimaru's explanation said it has some blue rust that kept some evil spirit or something away. It actually stuns those enemies for a long time

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but there's an Okami woman enemy at the sakura idol in the fountainhead palace that drops 18 spirit emblems on kill and isn't really a far walk from the idol. Sabimaru almost immediately posture breaks her and lets you kill her. Best farming spot I've found

If you farm the one by the antechamber instead you get to take out the blue dude on the way. That’s only important because blue dude is an easy backstab and can drop divine confetti. Run takes a few extra seconds hitch is worth it

I find with the monks at the temple.. if you move fast, you can get three or four backstabs in a row between the groups and take out most of the staffs if you just go from one to the next to the next in a straight line up the hill.

My personal method for gaining spirit emblems, is to do the XP farm at Ashina Castle by killing the 'rats' after the Oniwa fight, I had about 6000 sen after an hour, and bought the full 999 stack of emblems early on.

I think that most bosses/mini bosses on the game (same for normal enemies ofc) have one prosthetic tool weakness . Example Centipe with loaded umbrella , Guardian ape 1st phase with long spark and 2nd phase with phoenix umbrella , and of course Mist noble huge weaknes to R1 trigger .

Another tip with the whistle, it drives animals crazy and the will start attacking human type enemies. A good example of this is the fire drunkard in the Mibu area, the monkeys in the area will go mad and start attacking him

The axe also gains the ability to absorb weak damage, its good for doing high posture damage while bosses are unleashing flurries on you.

Nice tutorial. But there are a couple of things you missed. 1. Malcontent works three times against a single enemy. At third use enemies rage out and become immune to it. 2. Sabimaru combo change attack can be used to dodge and get behind enemies you just have to move left stick while doing the combo change. Howver this does not work that well against large enemies. 3. Divine abduction does not work against certain strong enemies like ministry purples. They do get turned around but dont lose vision of you so you cang backstab them. 4. Divine abduction one-shots senpou monks. Its somewhat hinted by the talking carpet at the beginning of the area. Its one of the easiest to farm zones as well. Use tanto run around gather every one at one place use divine abduction you get more emblems back than you used even if you dont use tanto. And also get a bunch of gold, akos, and ungos probably. And farming gold is a lot easier than farming emblems. Just do the ashina antechamber to dojo run back and forth after you get bloodsmoke and tanto. You get through this area pretty fast and no emblem cost if you use tanto between each bloodsmoke. Late game this same area works with golden vortex and blood smoke. Lure all ministry purples in one room with blue robes. Vortex the blue robes and chain back stab bloodsmoke tanto. Main reason of not stealth killing a few purple robes early is because you get double drops with vortex, which should be more than enough to compensate the extra emblems you use this way. Edit : forgot to mention earlier. If things go bad in this run jump through the holes in the middles room and grapple to the ledge below and safely use homeward idol. This run feels better to me for farming xp and and gold than the mibu manor to flower viewing stage run just because its safer and faster.

You can also use the finger whistle to make non-alerted beasts aggro onto enemies. Making dogs attack their masters was useful for me in Fountainhead Palace.

Eg in ashina antechamber ministry purples and blue robes fight each other if you just whistle and run away or use mountain echo or the prosthetic skill tree followup. And one more thing i forgot to mention in farming the antechamber to dojo run that if things go south while farming you can always jump down through the holes in the middle room and grapple to the ledge below and safely use homeward idol.

Search around for a purple looking mini boss with a lot of projectiles, they are called shinchimen warriors. Kill him to get it as a reward. you'll need divine confetti to kill him. If you don't have enough, farm the blue robe samurais in ashina antechamber.

@@keyboardwarrior7869 I usually run through from Dojo, kill 1-2 blue dudes and let them all fight each other. Depends how many blue dudes I kill blue team usually wins 80% purple 20%. I stand there collect loot and XP then jump down and collect another 3k by killing 4 red hats and 1 purple. Basically whole run net 6-7kXp and a lot of items. Takes abouyt 6-7 minutes. Imo fountain place is better in terms of Items and XP but available very late in the game.

Hey, your vids really helped when i got stuck. Just a heads up you can continue the axe spin by timing the button. So charge the axe when you almost finish your 1st spin press the button again like you would for the Sabimaru. I think you need lvl 2+ of the axe and I tested it on PC. It turns into an indefinite horizontal spin that does huge damage and makes most enemies stagger.

One very important function of divine abduction is that it disintegrates (spirits them away) all monk type enemies caught in it ranges, even the big boys. So its basically on shot AOE effect on them.

Great guide, but I found a way to farm emblems that in much more efficient. Kill the okami warrior tthat throws lightning balls next to the sanctuary idol from fountainhead palace. Every time you kill him you get around 15 emblems. Use the ceremonial tanto to trade 5 emblems for health, just like the mechanic from BB(the tanto is dropped by the Shichimen Warrior from catacombs), use sabimaru combo and then spam R1/RB. You get around 100 emblems for every 3 minutes. With this tactic I managed to fill up my stock

I love the vortex fan it helps me get my bestowal ninjutsu going so I can reliable always reck any enemy. Btw that crybaby whistle is the best tool in beating the demon of hatred! Whenever their is a extremely hard hitting enemy that makes deflecting with the sword a waste that's when you deflect with the shield and that enemy posture damage it gets it tons better than what you try to with your sword!

I’m currently on my 6th play through of sekiro, and nearly have 100% completion. Here are my thoughts on what upgrades you should get, this should be no surprise the champion of prosthetics, the firecracker. Dump your main recourses into upgrading this, and unlock it either after gyubou or after the first samurai mini-boss. I like to use both the purple version and the spring loaded or normal version. If theres anything you get from this it’s that the firecracker is literally insane. The next most useful tool in my opinion was the shurikan, whenever you’re mobbed or don’t have a way to get to a ranged attacker fast it was always a good idea to toss a shurikan at em, this was the first prosthetic I fully upgraded and I honestly don’t regret it at all. The flame vent is useful on the ogre but he’s still really easy even without it, and that’s the only time i used it. Even the lazulite version felt weak, the after effect where you light your sword on fire felt too short as well. Spear is very useful on guardian ape and makes the fight a whole lot faster but thats the only time I ever use it. I never tried the umbrella, it seems to block DoTs on the upgrades, and do decent posture so may be worth. Never even once have I seen anyone use a finger whistle, probably because aberrations are practically farmable after you get a stockpile of ako and divine. Finally, sabimaru, axe, and mist raven all felt pretty lacking. Sabimaru costs way too much for what it does but I do like the idea. Axe isn’t bad for posture damage, but most of the time you force damage on your self when you could’ve just dropped a firecracker. Lastly mist raven is really only useful if you dont understand a bosses move-set, but can be used to escape mobs or attacks that are hard to read. These are just my opinions but I’d love to hear yours.

The finger whistle is incredibly heplful against cancerous ganks that require stealth like the last miniboss close to the final boss arena, because you can lure them one by one. You could say that I can use ceramic shards instead, but it makes all the enemies that are nearby aware of your presence. So being able to lure an enemy at a time is really good

I definatly used the firecracker but i never found any real upgraded effect from it. Yes the extended effect from the long spark upgrade is helpful as u can use it earlier and should it fail u still have time to get in a deflect. But outside of that there isent really any benefit of using it. Apart from the enemy types it was clearly designed for. Beasts. Spring loaded firecracker is so usless my god for 1 specific reson. The only time u actully benefit from using it is if u are surrounded by enemys and if u are surrounded then 9 out of 10 times u dont have time for the LONG time it takes to charge it up and then spin around and finally wait for the effect to go off. U will definatly get hit during that time so just drop a regular firecracker and run/jump past the enemys that are effected.

Great video! Wanted to point out that Sabimaru has a couple other uses! It's actually a weakness of the Okami warriors in Fountainhead palace, as well as the Snake Eyes boss in Sunken Valley. A couple hits will trigger poison and actually interrupt whatever they're doing as it locks them into a vomiting animation. Helpful if you're farming in Fountainhead.

The weapon's description actually tells you that, too. It's said to be 'particularly effective against descendants of the Okami warriors'. So if you're paying attention to the enemies lore, you actually gain an advantage on them. I love this game.

For anyone on pc currently, there is a mod that makes spirit emblems free to buy, saves so much time farming and lets you get right back into the action every time, no downtime on any spirit emblem requiring strategy where you have to go and kill 50 enemies to get enough emblems for the next attempt only to die spending 9 out of 20

Actually, that bit about there being no Apparition-style enemies is wrong. There are a number of locations that spawn apparition versions of Ashina Pupils (the blue-robed dudes you find in Ashina Castle Antechamber) and the Nightjar Ninja (those spiny-whirly idiots that are all over the roofs in Ashina Castle). Now, whether or not Malcontent works on those guys I have no idea; I just know that they're considered Apparitions.

Gouging top is great against nightjars. at the start of the uppermost roof level there are 2 nightjars and 1 is looking directly at you and will get aggro even if you use ganjin sugar, which means you have to fight them both. instead, use charged gouging top to take one down. they do a ton of damage even on blocking enemies.

You probably already knew this but... I recommend getting their attention by using Mountain Echo (the delayed whistle makes the tactic easier) + projected force to the right side where you'd initially stand, so you'll be able to sneak behind them with Gachin's Sugar

I know that this video is old and these are probably common knowledge among the playerbase, but if you're struggling: SPOILERS AHEAD 1) After deflecting the Guardian Ape's big attack (where it knocks you back) you can use the Drag function on the Loaded Spear to deal MASSIVE posture damage 2) Any enemy with red eyes is scared of fire, zero exceptions 3) Sabimaru is absurdly effective against the Okami people (located after Corrupted Monk) 4) Mist Raven can be used as a Lightning Reversal 5) Lilac Loaded Umbrella and be used to completely prevent damage from Shichimen Warriors' beam attack after they teleport 6) Not a prosthetic tip, but you can buy a skill from Blackhat (same guy you buy the Umbrella from) called Anti-Air Deathblow that lets you instantly kill enemies that like to jump (Shichimen Warrior and the twin blade enemies in Senpou Temple, for example)

It's not much, but a super easy place to farm black gunpowder is the gun fort's idol

I might be late, and you might have already finished the game but here's what I found in my playthroughs: -Scrap Iron and Black Gunpowder are pretty much infinite if you finish Anayama's side quest (sending Kotaro there)/when you defeat the True Monk, but it's common among most enemies in Ashina Castle/Outskirts -Magnetite is a little less common among Ashina soldiers but they have it. Also it becomes a common drop in the later stages of the game -Adamantite is a little trickier in early game but it's common among the guys with guns (Gun Fort). Also becomes a little more common among Interior Ministry soldiers/Purple ninjas/Strawhat monks outside Main Hall of Senpou Temple. -Yellow Gunpowder is pretty common among the Gun Fort guys as well. -Lump of Fat Wax is usually looted from Senpou Temple monks if you're in the mid game. -Lump of Grave Wax is a rare drop in Senpou Temple, but it's an occasional drop from Nobles of Fountainhead (they also drop Fat Wax). -Fulmimated Mercury is easiest to farm against the Interior Ministry Gunmen in the late game (after Divine Dragon). If you're not there yet, ringing the Bell Demon + farming in Gun Fort will give a chance to drop it (it can help if you have a Mibu Possession Balloon too).

The only issue with the umbrella is that it's far, FAR less useful without Kuro's Charm, because you take chip damage from all non-parries. Blocking is almost completely non-viable in general without it. I'll be sure to try them out, though, once I finish with my No-Charm + Bell Demon run.

The Finger Whistle also has an use where you can make an enemy hostile towards others for a time. Don't remember which tier does this though, but you use the whistle and then press attack towards the enemy, launching the sound towards them.

Either the Mountain Echo (Tier 2) or the Malcontent (Tier 3) can turn animal enemies berserk. Both have the delayed effect where if you attack the effect, you can send it wherever you have it aimed at to lure enemies towards that spot

Cowboy and others. One piece of advice missing is the upgrade materials. You will obviously find them laying around at times but by using the demon bell certain enemies have a good chance of dropping these materials so ring the bell and do some runs to previous areas to see who drops what. Like you can get fulminated mercury, yellow gunpowder and black gunpowder right at the gun fort idol. Great place to farm for xp, den and mats. Just try different places and keep notes people. The Demon Bell can be your friend.

The only time in the game I felt it necessary to farm spirit emblems was when I was grinding lady Butterfly - and I was able to max out (at the time) with one run of killing the nearby 3 guys and buying them at the sculptor’s idol. No big deal. For the rest of the game I always had enough. And during endgame once I was satisfied that I had stashed enough coin purses I started dumping all of my Sen into extra emblems.

If i'm not wrong, i think you're missing two prosthetic tools that aren't the lazulite series. The first is the Sen throw for the shurikens where you use sen as shurikens, and the dmg is dependent on the amount of cash you have. The second is the leaping flame for the loaded spears where if i'm not wrong, its a spear that has the flame element on it.

Indeed. Leaping Flame is basically identical to Cleave, it's just on fire/larger. Sen Throw on the other hand is more of a NG+ thing. 10gold for a regular use, 15g for a big throw so unless you're average 100gold per enemy you'll run out quick. Does a decent amount of posture damage but you're throwing away your money with a shorter range so it's very meh. I consider it an upgrade tier on the way to lazulite and nothing else.

One thing I would like to point out in regards to the Axe is that you don't need to use the whirling function if you have the Fang & Blade skill. You will make a follow-up attack that breaks all shields.

I feel like if you don’t count special versions like the Phantom Kunai, the shuriken is also a progression upgrade. You made it seem like there’s a reason to choose the spinning shuriken instead of the gouging too but there isn’t is there? The gouging top has the charge attack just like the spinning shuriken. It basically replaces the base attack but retains the hold RT/R2 ability that the spinning shuriken has. It’s not like the spear where entire moves are switched between versions.

The best farming place I’ve found for... well, everything is endgame ashina outskirts. Spawn at the ogre idol, pop gold green and white balloons, and go backwards killing the stationed gunman 1st al l the way back to the bridge. You can stealth kill pretty much all the enemies except one or two (you can stealth kill those as well if you’re lucky.) Gives around 2500 sen and 10 emblems per run as well as tons of upgrade materials especially if you use the bell, and each run takes less than a minute.

This is my favorite game of all time but, i think, people complains so much about how hard Sekiro is because the game doesn't teach you all the goodies like all this prosthetic tools, all the helpfull abilities and the best way to use itens. When you spend time learning everything you realise that the game is very easy. Most of the players will not read the tutorials, read the notes, pay attentions on dialogs. Plus there's is many itens that is hard to find in the begining and all the abilities drains your resource that is limited to use, so this is why people tends NOT to try or use it.
