Those potentially dangerous calls in Lee's match were really fast - it is clear someone told the ref to watch for that shoulder crank arm bar because that is how Lee gets most of his pins. Not sure I agree with how fast the call was.

It was cool to see Parsons connection to Spencer Lee, and the football coach at the match. All other sports know wrestling makes them better for their sports. When I coached, the football coach the next season would thank me, and say what did you do with him? He is so much better, and gets in to position before anyone else. One guy I coached did baseball. The first week of practice he came to me and said everyone on the base ball team is out of shape. I am running laps around them.

Vespa wrestled in my section back in HS. He had over 200 wins which was crazy, and multiple state placings making him the pound for pound wrestler in the section, and ranked #1 in the state for his weight class. I’ve seen him wrestle absolute studs back in high school and he used to just play around w his opponents without breaking a sweat. He’d get pins in like 15 seconds. Seeing him get teched and chewed up by Lee just puts me in shock. Nevertheless, Vespa is a stud.

@@1515cando he actually did wrestle above where he should have been, go back and watch the action and the way he wrestled in the first 3 seasons the last season his weight was too high and it showed he was slower than normal and only doing it to be the only one to do it at 4 weight classes. Kudos for getting it done but was really heavier than he should have been kind of like Matt McDonough of Iowa trying to ride the 125lb class. by his junior year he looked skinny and weak but they had Ramos at 133 so he couldnt move up theyd lose their 125 lb hammer. I hope these young men understand this too b/c we didn't have even a tenth of this type of exposure for the best sport on the planet back when I wrestled! Well done and as expected; fantastic dual filled with future repeating National Champions! However, I'll say this...J.R. @@onlyonehoudini5302 Spencer is the p4p it's not even a question lol. RBY is number 2 and doesn't come close to dominating his weight class like Lee does. Why is it on Lee to bump up and give up a weight advantage away from his natural weight? Why doesn't RBY bump up to 141 then and wrestle Woods and try to be p4p that way. He won't cause he'd lose.

Spencer Lee is a great wrestler. But the most dominant in a long time? I don't know about. He was taken down and put on his back earlier in the year, he was taken down last night. He's finishing guys but he's also exposing himself to a loss. You play with fire long enough you will get burned. I say he's not 100% or even close. I tend to think a guy like starocci who hasn't been taken down all year is just as dominant this year
@JJ-land
@JJ-land Жыл бұрын
@@James-wv3pl great call. I would add to the recently dominant list….Bo as more dominant, heck even Nolf with the most pins at PSU. Spencer is great, but he may just barely make the top 5 list of recently dominant. “Quite some time” is a bit vague, because Taylor, Dake and Snyder are easily ahead of Lee; add Ed Ruth; Lee is lucky to be in the top ten the more you think about it.
@randyh.7817
@randyh.7817 Жыл бұрын
@@James-wv3pl He's the only wrestler with 100% bonus wins, that's the definition of dominance. Getting a 2-1 win over the 16th ranked guy at the weight is pathetic, there's nothing dominant about that. Wrestling scared is not dominance, Spencer wrestles wide open, doesn't care if he gets taken down.

Iowa is weak in the botton position its been that way a long time, as well they have problems getting in on shots, and the biggest flaw is their gettting to a lead then laying back and not banging for bonus leaves the match too close too long and they usually wind up losing by a take down late or in sv
