Absolutely INCREDIBLE atmosphere in Carver-Hawkeye but when the rubber met the road PSU wrestlers did just enough. When Max Dean cinched up that bow and arrow I thought he was tearing Warner's knee to pieces, I’m glad he turned out ok. Great night for the sport.

Three of the matches went to OT and Iowa lost all of them… Iowa didn’t have their staring 125, then they lost their 2nd string 125 to injury… it could have easily been 19-13 for Iowa…

@@777Skeptic I mean tbf there are a lot of great examples of it. David Taylor's matches with Yazdani come to mind. Yazdani came out of the gates and almost tech'd him but DT slowly but surely chased him down and stayed focused. It's amazing what can happen sometimes. It's really difficult in wrestling though where it's hugely mental and if someone is blocking everything you've got you can get inside your own head and take yourself out of the match.

After only watching one match, Desanto still more worried about getting stall calls than actually trying to win a match with any skill. Brands coaching style: Instead of trying to get a takedown, just try to push the other wrestler out the entire match. Iowa's entire fan base wants stall calls within 15 seconds of their wrestler trying to run the other guy off the mat, which is in fact STALLING!!!!!!

@@jeffallanday Yeah they should. Just like they made figure fouring the head illegal in high school wrestling in some states because of the stress it puts on the spine. I'm just glad they didn't do that while I was still wrestling. I used that move heavily getting double digit pins with it my senior year.....and hurting a couple people in the process. I haven't looked for anything on it, but I hope Warner is okay. That was a brutal lock.

Yea, he just used the "Bow and Arrow" again on Sunday against his Rider opponent. Not sure what happened to him. He limped off but it looked more like an ankle issue instead of his quad muscle being stretched during the "Bow and Arrow" Max put on him to pin him.

@@jtc5159 i can see 174 going either way but Desanto was no where close to finishing any of those takedowns. He isn't winning without figuring that out. RBY was completely comfortable letting Desanto eat up tons of clock and energy taking those shots. He timed his offense perfectly and was smart enough to take that shot at the end to avoid another stall call. Desantos intensity is other worldly but his wrestling IQ is no where near RBYs.

Horrible strategy by Kem to let Starocci go in the 1st SV from the bottom. Kem is good enough to hold him down for 30 seconds even of he gets a count on his legs. Starocci was shown to be a good rider earlier in the match and should have known he probably could have held him down for 30 seconds for the win.

@@wallacesmith865 I get it. Tbf though every official has a bad match/night. Especially when it comes to judgement calls. From what I've seen of him though he usually seems pretty consistent throughout the course of a dual. I do like how he always seems to try and make sure the wrestlers know when takedowns happen and he's about to start the drop down count, or when they need to clean up the hand fighting or finger locking. They're all going to have bad days/nights, but I can't really ask much more than an official that communicates and is pretty consistent.

Iowa was loaded this year..even without Lee...Sanderson went out got 125/190lb studs...difference in the dual meet. PSU won all the 1 vs 2...RBY/Lee/Stirochy...Brands tried his theatrics..but the refs didnt buy it...Cael is ELITE.

Seems like the main difference between these two great programs and their wrestlers… Iowa’s guys seem to get to a certain level and lets be clear, it’s a high level, but for whatever reason, they seem to hit a wall and stop improving (at least a lot of them) where as Penn State wrestlers seem to continue developing. Perhaps Iowa wrestlers get burned out from so much wear and tear on the body and mind. Regardless, this was a great match and I’m glad I got to watch it so props to Big Ten Network!

Carter should’ve won that by at least 3 points. There were two takedowns that the ref just said no too. That takedown by kem in ot was a stalemate. Ref easily favored Iowa and penn st still got the dub
