Going deeper into matches, more non-evaluation range time/training, while also trying to hold onto a high degree of research and video production means that I will take precious time that I have with my wife and children. McClane never used an MP5K though. The MP5K appears in both Die Hard 2 and Die Hard 3, but McClane never uses them as far as I can remember. The bad guys (including Robert Patrick) all have MP5Ks in the airport ambush scene in Die Hard 2, but when McClane actually uses an MP5 later in the movie (where he realizes the bad guys used blanks), he's using a regular MP5 like he uses in the first Die Hard. Same thing goes for Die Hard 3. McClane takes an MP5K off of a dead terrorist on the ship near the end of the movie, but he immediately gives it to Zeus (Sam Jackson) and Zeus is the one who uses it. Or at least attempts to. McClane takes a MAC-10 off of a dead bad guy and uses that instead. So a John McClane LARP wouldn't be accurate with an MP5K. Just a regular MP5.

I was a cop in the 70-80s and carried an M1 carbine in my car. When I was in plain cloths, and did not want to look like a cop, I carried a Walther P38 in a shoulder holster with 4 extra mags in my jacket pockets. Both are reliable weapons. The only problem I ever had with them was getting them away from my wife!

So I think it might have been missing the -PDW (I haven't watched it for a while), but if you're looking for an iconic MP5K LARP then surely you have to go with Chow Yun-Fat in The Killer. Not to engage in racial stereotyping, but Henry running the match in a white linen suit (with or without movie-appropriate bloodstains) would be something special to behold.

The SAS was a major user of the MP5K. So, an SAS LARP would probably look pretty sick. However, the coolest SAS look is with the gasmask, and that wouldn't be very practical. The KSK were also users of the MP5K, and flecktarn has that drip.

Right, I think UMP should be great with large .45 ACP on full auto. Most of early 2000s kids getting to know UMP from counter-strike game, there UMP considered as slower and more expensive than MP5, giving it a rather unpopular reputation. Never handling UMP myself but .45ACP is rather big round albeit on a slower side. UMP got eclipsed with Kriss Vector as they're hyped with full auto high RPM .45ACP low recoil (directed downward) highly controllable SMG. Not sure about all that, Mack did a cover on 1st version of kriss vector on Future Weapons. Yes, those UMP scene on matrix 2 was great 👍👍 I love it.

My department had three of the Colt SMGs. Two ran great, one had problems until we stoned the crap out of the bolt and rails. It ran great after that. It wasn't an MP5, which we ended up going to, but they were solid shooters. Nice and light, controllable, and same controls as our M-4's. I got to shoot a factory suppressed version once and it was extremely quiet and controllable. Great guns.

Just scanning through my movie memories real quick, the thing about the MP5K is that it was almost always used as a "bad guy gun". I can't even think of any iconic "good guys" who used MP5Ks in action movies. For example, the MP5K appears in both Die Hard 2 and Die Hard 3, but John McClane never actually uses it as far as I can remember. Does he maybe pick one up and shoot back at the bad guys during the skywalk ambush scene in Die Hard 2? If so, he only uses it for that one scene and only uses it very briefly. But that is what all of the bad guys are using in that ambush. MP5Ks. You could dress up like Robert Patrick in that scene. Get some white coveralls and go as him. Robert Patrick also uses an MP5K during the helicopter chase in T2. That would be a cool LARP. Going as the T-1000. The MP5K is used in Die Hard 3 as well, but McClane never uses it. He takes one off of a dead terrorist when they are on the ship near the end of the movie, but he immediately gives it to Zeus (Sam Jackson) to use and McClane uses a MAC-10 instead. I guess you could get some shoe polish and go as Zeu...never mind. LMFAO! You could technically go as Neo from the Matrix. He uses MP5Ks during the lobby shootout when rescuing Morpheus, but not for very long. I can't even think of any others. Like I said before, for whatever reason, the good guys in movies usually use regular MP5s while the bad guys are the ones with the MP5Ks.

Thoughts on the M-1 Carbine. I can verify that at least one police officer was carrying one in the 1980's. We had two officers ambushed and killed in 1977 with an M-1 Carbine. It was found the shooter had earlier killed his parents with the same weapon. My sergeant, when I started on patrol in 1981, carried one under his seat after that. He was the one who arrested the shooter, and he said he saw what it did to his officers. He would have been a third officer killed but the shooter had run out of ammo. It wasn't unheard of back then for officers to surreptitiously carry things that weren't exactly authorized.

East German Diensteinheit IX (Service Unit 9), basically the very top of East German SWAT who despite operating on the communist side of the Iron Curtain still got their hands on West German weapons through Columbian arms dealers including the MP5 series and the HK33. Post reunification, DIX would merge with the West German SEK. I think Strichtarn would go super hard and stand out from the crowd.

As someone who was planning to go to lethal weapons, I have to say when it came to gun choices fastest time wasn't even something I was looking at. My rationale was that I would never get to the podium anyway given that you sponsored professional shooters in the match. So my plan was more looking at it as what gun do I have that in a normal match id never run but is a gun that's fun to shoot and I could larp with. So before work canceled my trip plans my choice was to run my m1 garand that's in .308, so if it was me and the m1 carbine falls in the pcc category id say just run it and focus on the fun running something like that.

Lethal Weapon TX would have really been my type of match, if not for the fact I have other plans and obligations and can't go. I would have rocked a 1980's security guard larp with spare uniform shirts, a black tie and tie clip, nylon gun belt with a Safariland/Bianchi holster for my S&W Model 19, Uncle Mike's speedloader pouch, S&W handcuffs, and a 4 D-cell Maglite with ring holster. Long gun would have been my SBR'd AP5 configured to an A2, or my dads old Mini-14.

John Mclane should be your go to LARP. White T-shirt, so you'll be comfortable in the heat outside, or if it's cold, even better, because Die Hard is a Christmas movie. As for my peak 90s setup, I'd be rocking a Dissipator build on an A2 stock equipped lower. Dunno really what I'd LARP as though, not sure any agencies used Dissipators...
