Very good tutorial. Just shows that modern designers are not too concerned about the diy mechanic. Having said that it is unlikely that a headlamp would need removing too often.

to replace the main beam bulb in that exact headlight requires the lamp to be removed, so yes, It is removed more often than it should

@@faer075 On the 2006 A3 we used to have you don't have to remove the lamp. There is access to the bulb from behind the headlamp under the bonnet.

@@bmw-e30i had to remove my front bumper regardless and the back hole gives you no room 😂

The 2010 model should have a brace under the headlight that needs to come out. two of the headlight bolts are connected to it, and the brace is connected using two bolts near the radiator. It's hard to explain but if you're have trouble getting the light out you may need to take out the brace as well. The video got me 90% of the way though 👍

Blessing. Also If you don't have a narrow T30 To reach down to get the headlight screws out you can use a long flat blade screwdriver Without damaging the T screw.

Good vid very easy to follow, I'm going to do this on my S3 with the Xenon's, well basically I need to swap out the passenger side ballast so I need the headlight off to get the actual part number, is the ballast attached to the light, in the light itself or attached to the car 😅

The ballast is attached to the headlight casing, on the underside, usually held in place by 3 torx screws.

If the weather is warm you can try removing the bulb cover from the rear, and letting the lamp 'air out', this may help get rid of the condensation temporarily.

You will at least need to remove one side of the bumper to get access to the lower headlight fixings.

@@SelectVehicleSpares do really have to? because it looks like, that the light is fixed with 3 screws from the top (to unscrewed them with the long screwdriver)

No problem mate let me change a lightbulb, only need to remove the wheels, the bumber the tube with windshield washer fluid, the guards, shrouds, transmission, computer, air conditioning, engine, quite easy really just a 2 day job

This is so stupid, on a 2008-2012 fiesta you can remove the headlight in 2 minutes, this is overcomplicated for no good reason 😢

If you just want to remove one of the headlights you can undo one side of the bumper and also the top bolts and pull the bumper away from the car just enough to get one out.

@@SelectVehicleSpares , I wonder why it wouldn’t pull out with just the top 3 t30 bolts undone , what a pain the drl holder got bent when I was trying to replace the bulb and shattered inside I can’t see what’s wrong with out getting the headlight out .

Be very very careful using an electric gun to remove these torx screws as they can very easily strip the heads and then you've made the whole job a great deal harder. I generally wire brush these screw heads and give the a squirt of maintenence fluid first. Always ensure the torx bit is well centered in the head and use a 1/4" drive ratchet so you can feel if the screw is free or not. These screws corroded and seize/strip very easily so be warned.
