Selena was a huge star like Micheal Jackson. She was the greatest latin female singer of all time based on how she could dance with so much energy and sing at the same time during an entire performance without running out of breath. With a powerful voice. She was taken from us way too soon. Had she crossed over to the english music industry she would be one of the greatest international/ singers in the world if she were still alive today. Long live queen Selena.

My mom was at her concert in the Astodome in the front row. She even got a shirt autographed by Selena her self. I was still not born but my mom told me that if felt like a bucket of cold water was dumped on her when she saw in the news that Selena was murdered. I can't see or hear her without getting super depressed about what could've been. 😭 She was only 23 and her career was skyrocketing. Her life was just starting. She conquered the Tejano market, earned a Grammy, she was performing in front of 60,000 person crowds, she was finally recording her English crossover album and was planning a global tour to promote it. She was about to open a third boutique in Mexico and her and her husband had bought land and were designing their home and planning a family. She was gonna be HUGE. She would've been up there with Whitney and Mariah I have no doubt about that.

I grew up a town away from Corpus, where she lived and was killed when I was 15 and I remember we drove by the hotel she was killed at that night and by her house and the streets for probably weeks were just flooded with people trying to catch a glimpse of her life. So unfair. She was in the middle of recording the pop crossover album she had been talking about wanting to do for years and after putting so many years of work into performing and honing her skills as a singer/dancer it's just snatched away.

Great video. I was ten years old when she died and was in my way home from school on the bus when it came over the radio across the country. Then they released her song “dreamin if you” in her honor. The Mexican family I knew down the street from me had an older daughter that had been to one of her concerts and said Selena was SUCH an angel. She often stayed behind for HOURS signing things for fans and taking pics with them. She loved everybody. She told kids to stay in school and work hard for the things you want in life. She wanted a family one day with her husband Chris and was surprisingly conservative in her values. The show you see at the Houston astrodome (which isn’t thee anymore) was for the Houston rodeo and they had “Tejano night” and she got to play but the concert wasn’t even for HER. She sold out more tickets and beat Michael jackson’s record for ticket sales for that venue. Her ear piece had stopped working right before she was supposed to play so she couldn’t hear herself singing and was actually just singing as loudly as she could! Lol. Everything turned out ok though because by this time, her and the band were a “well oiled machine” and worked well as a team! She really was singing all those songs at all those different places those are synchronized cuts of each concert she did where she sang those songs.
