I'm a Black woman and I love Selena! She was an amazing artist! She loved Donna Summer and the Jacksons! Look up her song Enomorada De Ti heavily influenced by JJ and she's an excellent New Jack Swing dancer....effortless. And she could moonwalk. Superior vocalist. So much so that her ballads No Me Queda Mas, Como La Flor, and Si Una Vez are some of my faves though they're in Spanish. The versions from this concert are amazing. Good looks, y'all. In places like Texas and Northern California (like Oakland where I grew up) it's very normal for blk and Mexican Americans to grow up in the same neighborhoods as each other so our cultures completely blend so we don't really see differences between one another in these areas. But in Mexico, there's still a lot of racism, from the European damage and mindset that was enforced on the people by their Spanish colonizers. There are many Afro-Mexicans in Mexico, 3 million Blk Mexicans who are still disregarded by many Mexicans because they tend to be ashamed of that part of themselves. My family thankfully had a different outlook because my Grandfather was proud of our African heritage so he taught us it was something to stand on instead of be ashamed of it

I watched this concert on it's debut on Univision, which our cable carrrier had finally gotten in our rural area. I was like, this lady is going to go worldwide. You could tell. Like the other great performers in the 90s killed by greed, I remember thinking "The human race just can't have nice things.". RIP angelic voice.

What happened to her was so senseless and will forever be one of the greatest losses to the musical world and the world at large. Como La Flor from the same live performance is amazing. I grew up in south Texas and my 2nd grade teacher was a huge Selena fan and would tell us stories about her every morning. I loved her ever since. A few years later she was taken from us and it was a very huge thing in Texas. The fact that she’s still celebrated today is proof of how fantastic she was and could’ve been. I saw Selena in concert at the Rainbow Ballroom in Fresno, CA. Admission at the door was ten dollars a person. When she shook people’s hands in the audience I was one of the lucky ones. I might’ve gotten to talk to her after the concert but some guy on the other side tried to pull her down into the crowd. Her Father and security ran on stage and they left immediately afterwards.

😥❤️🌹She was a very happy-go -lucky girl, & humble to the core. She was always smiling, but her kind & trusting nature, lead to her death😣. She would sign autographs till her hands cramped up, & always made her fans a priority. I remember the day she was killed, was one of the saddest days in our town. I was a kid, but cried for 3 days straight. We lived in the same block that her family home was located in. Her mom was also as kind as they come, but unfortunately we never got to see Selena. The day she was killed, the entire area was eerily silent, aside from the muffled cries we could hear from one another as neighbors. She gave so much back to the community, & was beloved because of her angelic personality & natural beauty & charisma. It's unfair that she was taken so young, at the peak of her career in music & fashion. Plz listen to more of her songs, or watch her movie to learn more about her🙏🏼

In 2024 they had a 14 city tour All Venues Sold-Out Lovebites - "Hammer of Wrath" live - They just completed their European Tour and will in the US a little later in the summer. They are Japanese where Rock and Roll is alive and well. Have fun!!!
