Selena has arthritis because of her lupus disease and it makes her hands weak and shaky so she wanted this line to help people that lost fine motor skills like her. The “ball” on the packaging is to help them open it, also everything is so smooth and easy to apply and blend so people with disability don’t struggle that much with precision and pressure. The message is to love yourself and accept your rare beauty and not use makeup to hide and change your face but highlight your features. Rare Beauty want to raise 100 million dollars the next 10 years to help increase access to mental health. Everything in this line is vegan and cruelty free also the packaging is sustainable and 100% recyclable. This is not just another beauty brand, there’s a message and a meaning and I love that.

I notice it looked better when I backed away from my laptop without my glasses on -- then everything blended better, not so jarring. Sat back up and the contrast between her face and around her hairline, neck, etc: not good. Alissa Ashley got a good match, but 3 or 4 foundations are not the move. With undertones, you need at least 8 -10. Plus if they want Black influencers swatching, more is more!

I think its because normally fresh application of liquid foundation is very bright in color and would be lighter on your skin tone, but giving it some time- i believe would make it more your shade. P.s pardon my English

I'm definitely gonna try the foundation now. I need a foundation with a dewy finish, since Urban Decay got rid of their Naked Skin Foundation and replaced it with a more matte formula. Enrelie Sure. In my opinion, Selena is most appealing to a group 20-30 years younger than I am. She’s very cute, but I can’t name any of her songs or other media (movies? 🤷🏾‍♀️😂). I do want to point out that you said the eyeliner was felt tipped, it’s actually not, it’s a bunch of bristles together to make it easier to apply. Same situation for the round ball on top of the lids of the products as well as the shapes of the brushes/sponge. Selena suffers from lupus and as a result she suffers from arthritis so it gets difficult when gripping things and having a sturdy hold. She made them the way they are so it’s easier for people (who suffer with similar things) to have better grips on the products or use their palm for opening things! ☺️

Thank you for mentioning the neglect of the really light shades too. I will *never* forget back in the day when I was a teen first trying to find makeup.... And every single "lightest" shade looked like 5 shades too dark for me...I had to use concealers for the longest time, which back then, the concealers weren't all that great at the drugstore lol. And often, darker than me still. I also have friends who have much, much deeper skin tones and suffered the same issues--never able to find a foundation shade because the darkest colours were so much lighter than them. I found the foundation of Rare Beauty was...strange..on my skin. It didn't sit right. I'm going to play around with different primers, no primer, etc and see if it makes the difference. I adore Selena, so I really want to love her brand lol. She saved my self esteem as a teen..I just love her so much and support her makeup brand ventures! The blushes are stunning. The mascara was...okay, again, not my favourite, but I really appreciate her honesty in everything I've seen her in, talking about her makeup. I'm going to keep trying things out with her makeup. I know people are mad that she released makeup because it seems like everyone is doing it but i can tell that she actually put love into this line and it isn’t a cash grab, especially with the mental health mission. In 2013, she mentioned wanting to do a makeup line so it’s not like it came out of nowhere. She had health issues so she couldn’t do it at the time but now that’s she’s ok, she wanted to do it. The price point is also really good, everything’s under $30 so the products are cheaper than a lot of the things at Sephora and I love that she didn’t use the fact that they are donating a percent of the proceeds an excuse to overprice everything. A lot of celebrity lines are really expensive but she kept accessibility in mind, especially with the fact that she made the packaging arthritis friendly by having the cap be sphere shaped so you can open it with your palms instead of your fingers. She has arthritis caused by lupus so she can’t really use her fingers to open things so I’m glad she decided to put that into her product. I ordered all the complexion products. I already have too many lip products but I’m excited to try it.

Love your personality so natural, normal, not a forced exaggerated friendly cheesy KZbin attitude like other beauty youtubers. So organic and chill. You don't do a forced energetic heightened KZbin voice. They do have options for cool undertone and neutral, I believe they sent you a warm undertoned foundation. But you look so good😍

Unpopular opinion: I feel like everyone reviewing these products is kinda "meh" about the products. I haven't seen one review where someone GENUINELY liked the product(s). I think the line was giving me natural beauty/no makeup, makeup. If I buy expensive makeup I actually want it to show and not sink into my skin. I think it's amazing she just this brand but these makeup items are a solid pass for me. Thank you for your amazing and honest review.

It seems like as the foundation sits on your skin, the color matches better. Maybe it oxidizes a little? Also, those blushes all look like lip gloss to me...dual use?

Maybe if you call it “first look” instead of “review,” that may help. Considering they sent you so many products with the wrong undertone, not to mention lipsticks you’re unlikely to ever wear again, which is unfortunate & makes it tough to say you love it. Since a proper review should ideally entail using it more than once, experimenting with it, etc. and trying something out for the first time with a camera on you adds pressure, so I don’t expect this to be your end-all feelings on this brand’s products. Selena came out with 48 shades which is absolutely incredible. The foundation is just the wrong color but you cant criticize the formula because they either sent you the wrong shade or you bought the wrong shade. Ive personally tried it and I have break outs on my checks but the rest of my face is clear. The foundation is AMAZING. Selena worked so hard on this brand and it really shows❤️

Everyone saying the foundation matches in the end is lying. If you look at her chin vs neck or when her hand is by her face, her body and face are different colors. The blush and bronzer bring different tones to the face, which can make foundation appear like it matches better, but I think it’s bs for a foundation to need so much support to be passable
