I think it’s quite scary health curriculum hardly scratches the surface of the complications and long term effects of pregnancy. I remember a former friend of mine got mad at me for being ‘negative’ because I mentioned in passing it’s common for the entire stomach to darken with hyperpigmentation from the hormone changes. She saw it as me trying to deter her about having kids, but that was honestly just an aesthetic and shallow change. Didn’t bother to share the actual serious complications. To be fair, she was in her toxic positivity era and any mention of anything that wasn’t sunshine and rainbows was me being a jerk. It felt like her way of announcing she wasn’t interested in being my friend anymore since I had high functioning depression at the time and seemed to be annoyed if I wasn’t in high spirits. Postpartum, tooth loss, hair loss, fatal bleeding, seizures, even changes to the brain can occur from pregnancy. It’s brutal. Some have smooth pregnancies, but it is a thing of luck.

If the media was candid and precautionary about it instead of ‘you are only valuable if you have kids, just do it now don’t think.’ Then I’d feel less coerced and lied to. It’s a natural human milestone, I’m not saying kids are a big trick. But it’s definitely true that not every woman should carry and even if you’re fit and can carry to term it can get rough and emotionally difficult. The glamorizations and having to immediately snap back or you’re set for a humiliation ritual from society is what really disappoints me. It feels dehumanizing to women and their health and feelings.

Gomez no seem particular bent out of shape about anything, these day. She not living like she on borrow time, with the kidney transplant, especially with talk of future kid in her life. She also a billionaire now. A lot us have health issue and some quite serious and some have some sort of skill with their condition, but I be the first to tell you, recover from incurable mental illness, I a light weight compare to people with organ transplant, live moment to moment. Interestingly, this when the Chinese and their idea/practice of organ work/thieving gonna lead to better result with organ transplant, than current practices in the west, improve this type of treatment. It the people, who rich and who want a new organ, gonna add something to overall study, research, practice of transplants. In the West, it when a situation is dire and that not as powerful a motivation for cutting edge research as people, who dream bigger. At 55, I very in good place physically. I just know. I not going anywhere NEAR a Chinese hospital.
