Selena Quintanilla-Pérez (Spanish: [seˈlena kintaˈniʝa ˈpeɾes]; April 16, 1971 - March 31, 1995) was an American singer, songwriter, spokesperson, model, actress, and fashion designer. Called the Queen of Tejano music, her contributions to music and fashion made her one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers of the late 20th century. Billboard magazine named her the top-selling Latin artist of the 1990s decade, while her posthumous collaboration with MAC cosmetics became the best-selling celebrity collection in cosmetics history. Media outlets called her the "Tejano Madonna" for her clothing choices.[a] She also ranks among the most influential Latin artists of all time and is credited for catapulting a music genre into the mainstream market.
Selena Quintanilla was taken from us too soon. The Tejano singer was only 23 years old when she died on March 31, 1995, after the president of her fan club and manager of her boutiques, Yolanda Saldívar, shot her in a hotel room at the Days Inn in Corpus Christi, TX. Twenty-four years later, Selena's true fans still mourn her untimely death. The tragic events started with a discovery by Selena's father, Abraham Quintanilla, Jr. When fans started calling and sending letters about not receiving merchandise they had paid for, Abraham noticed Yolanda had embezzled more than $60,000 from the fan club and boutiques. Yolanda was fired, but still held some financial paperwork for the stores. That's why Selena arranged a meeting, at the Days Inn, room 158, now room 150, where at 11:48 a.m. (CST), Yolanda shot Selena on the shoulder. The "Como la Flor" singer managed to escape to the lobby, before she was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead. But the terrible ordeal didn't end there. Yolanda locked herself in her pick-up truck in the parking lot of the hotel with the gun for over 10 hours, finally surrendering after the long standoff with police and the FBI. She was found guilty of Selena's murder in a trial in Houston and is serving her sentence at the Mountain View Unit in Gatesville, TX. She will be eligible for parole in March of 2025.

Chris her husband showed off the outside of the house for a tv crew but said it was never finished and he canceled it cause he didn’t want any of it without her. I wonder what become of that land. If someone else bought it and finished the project or if it was just torn down.

Gabriela Gallegos Fame doesn’t equate to wealth. She was a millionaire by 1994. If you look back at her interviews the interviewers always asked about her money.. Selena always got uncomfortable disclosing the fact that was rich. She just laughed it off and dodged those questions. She was raised in humble beginnings and wasn’t comfortable living a lavish luxurious lifestyle.. tho home girl definitely spent on luxury brands. She owned a Porsche and clothing wise Versace and Chanel were her favorites. Her money was unfortunately the root of her death as well. A jealous selfish woman who gained her trust and access to her banking stole over $30k. She killed Selena when she was discovered and cut off from it. She treated Selena like a literal piggy bank and smashed it (killed her) so no one else could use her.. the twisted entitlement of it all.

She practiced all her dance steps. Today she is 36 years old with three beautiful boys and owns Selena t-shirts, magazines and books about Selena. *Small correction: The bullet that killed her never made contact with her liver. It entered the lower right quadrant of her back/shoulder, severing the Right Subclavian Artery, shattered her collar bone and pierced her right lung. For all intents and purposes, she died right there in the motel lobby floor. Her pupils were fixed/dilated and there was no sign of neurological function (she was brain dead) and was listed as 'Dead On Arrival.' Sadly, Doctors have said that even today if she had been shot just outside the Emergency room doors that she still probably would not have survived given the exact amount of damage that was done to such a vital area. " 'Tis a fearful thing to love what Death can touch."

You said the bullet which Selena was shot with was never found, it was never found because according to what I've read, it was those bullets where it basically melts on contact. Yolanda sure had everything planned out and well calculated, yet she still insists till this day the gun accidentally went off. Also, in a Spanish interview with Selena's father, he made very valid points, where he says, If it really would of been an accident, then why didn't Yolanda right away try to help or look for help for Selena (and also given Yolanda was a former nurse), but instead got into her car and tried to flee, but didn't get to flee because a police cruiser came in time to block the exit, so once Yolanda saw there was no way out is where Yolanda parked and pointed the gun to her head, causing several hours of standoff with police/swat. Another valid point Selena's father added too in that interview was, the gun shot Selena "accidently," yet the gun didn't go off accidently when Yolanda was holding it to herself while on stand off with police for several hours.

My thought exactly! The secret that the book supposedly uncovers is that Selena had an affair. I don't know if Selena did or didn't so I am not going to comment on that. What bothers me is that the book is attempting to destroy her image after her death. Selena is not here to defend herself. If it's true, what does that have to do with Yolanda killing her? Why does her personal life or any mistakes she might have made need to be exposed? That would have been between her and Chris. It is disgraceful and inappropriate to try to uncover an affair after her death. It's not like she was a serial killer or a rapist.

Juan Mora too us in San Antonio she is our Legend and she is our Queen 👑 forever and she wasn’t Hollywood which acting fake she was real in every aspect of her personality and yeah she would have had a mansion but not in Los Angeles but in her hometown Corpus Christi and I still feel too this day she would have never felt as if she was a star but a very blessing and fortunate person who just loved life and her family also lived life too the fullest and have kids but she will never experience it because of psychotic person took all of that away from her with one gun shot and she better not come out of jail she is really psycho because, she really wants too get out of jail, she should know what’s waiting for her out here in the world death, because she would be dead by less than a week maybe in a day right out of jail if God gives her that much time too live and so she is better of in jail than out in the world because how can a murderer like her be out in the world free, while an Angel like Selena has had her life taken away by that psycho it feels very sad still because I still say what could have been and I know I’m not the only person but millions of her fans like me say it as well and all we have is an imagination like one of her songs fotos de recuerdos smh 😭🤦‍♂️

It's very hard to watch this and not picture it all.. Seeing her face full of fear and then being shot.. holding herself and running with a limp, then collapsing when she finally found someone only to leave us moments later. This woman was an Angel and she is the reason why anyone gave latino music a chance and how it's impacted so much today. She would have been the biggest star out there and still have the Heart of Gold. I miss her so much but her Legacy forever lives in my heart and I have not failed to remind people of her when she comes to mind.

Thank you for making this walk through. I was just a kid when army idol was taken from us. A month after that tragic day I begged my dad to take me to Corpus. We made the trip from El Paso to Corpus and i asked to be taken to all her boutiques, her home, the days inn and her final resting place. As a special treat my dad took me to Q Productions and we were lucky enough to meet one of her uncles and Mr Quintanilla. This tragedy really affected me as a kid. I felt like I had lost a family member. She was so beautiful so angelic she had a long way to go. 😔 💜 #SiempreSelena

I had the opportunity to have visit Corpus Christi, TX on the week of her 49th birthday last year of 2019. I’ve stayed at the Knights Inn room 154, just 2 rooms to the right side where she was shot. I felt her presence and took some selfies. I got lucky to be there. I almost cried when I entered the lobby. But I held my tears until I passed her room. I will be back next year to pay her respect on her 50th birthday and visit her museum, statue and her gravesite. #Selenaforever🌹🎤
