This was when she was still a locally known artist performing at parties, weddings, Quinceañeras, street fairs, local events etc. She would get ripped off by some hosts & would unfairly get paid when performing along side other older groups that were almost always all men, the reason? Because she was a “young female” who wouldn’t be able to attract crowds. Who would’ve known that in such few years she would come to dominate the whole Tejano music genre to becoming one of the biggest Latin stars!

This song was originally recorded by Air Supply. For Selena’s version, the line “Cigarettes, a glass of wine” was changed to “Thoughts of you fill my mind,” because she neither smoked nor drank.

Absolutely right with everything you said, my friend! I’m a 61-year-old woman and still loving her music every day. Her beauty charisma, and outrageously beautiful voice Is second to none! She just exuded love and good vibes. How could you not just fall in love with her. In 1991 she was only 20 years old!!That damn Yolanda whatever demon got into her I hope she straightens out with God before it’s too late. I don’t hate anyone but if I could bring up that anger and hatred Yolanda would be right up there! I could only imagine what heights Selena would’ve reached in her 20s, 30s and 40s, 50s! Can you imagine? Selena used to say “my goal isn’t to live forever but to leave something behind that will”! Amen that’s beautiful and it has lived on forever! Thank you for your review and for keeping her music alive. We need to keep her memory alive because she’s definitely a classic forever. Diane

This heas been a top fav of I mine, but it's hard to choose😆. In this song you can hear her voice in a different range (very good of not flowing into each note during high low notes for ex). Not to mention the fact that she can do ballads, ranchars ,alomst any genre and still have a gorgeous performance/voicals. Plus desiging her own customs, big prop to her, Classic. But I adore it.

From Corpus Christi here also 😊. Selena lived right around the corner from me in Molina. Although I didn't know Selena personally (she was always touring and I was always in school), her tour buses were always just parked outside her house and she'd be cruising around in her little red Porsche. But she spoke just like every other girl around here...never took herself too seriously.. not an arrogant bone in her body. Her humor was infectious..like a southern, sarcastic, best girl friend. If you saw her in a crowd, you likely NEVER know she was "SELENA" ha..
