There are a couple of things i did not like about the series. A friend of mine is JW and he says thats not how JW believe in. They were not true JW because they do not believe in becoming famous like president or actors from drawing away from their faith. I feel like Selena wanted to finish school and the way she talked how much she missed out on. Im not talking down on her Mother, i think Marcella is beautiful and wonderful. I think her mother should have stopped Abraham from making the decision having Selena pulled out of school. I wouldnt allow my child to be exposed to that kind of industry and i hated how Abraham had the final word and what about Marcella. How can she stand there and have Abraham yell at their daughter and did Marcella Have any words regarding Abraham call Chris a cancer in their family and they call themselves JW? Anything could have happened to Chris after Abraham kicked him off the bus. I understand her mom trying to comfort her and Abraham and Marcella are one to talk considering they themselves got married very young and i understand it was different era, she came from a poor household and there wasnt much choice. And Marcella loves Abraham but why didnt her Mother stop Abraham and how could she stand there and see Selena cry? i dont understand that. Selena wanted to do so many things incase lets say the album wasnt a success. She wanted to take classes to desig clothes, own a business. A backup career and how can her family settle on one career. Selena deserved live in her life. Ab and Suzzette got to have relationships and not Selena. Even if she didnt fall for Chris like no one else would be better. What gets to me is how can Abraham judge Chris without getting to know him? Pete got to keep his long hair but Chris has to cut his. Thats not a win win. When i read Chris book compared to what her family has shared about Selena. I grew to love and undrstand the real Selena. We all get angry, stressed and put under pressure and one thing the series did not include was it was Selena all along that suggested to Chris they go out and get married. And i understand Abraham was worried Selena has a lot of young girls as fans. Its not the right choice. As a female young fan to me thats Selena growing out of her comfort zone and take control of her life and go for the one she loves despite her familys disapproval. A character growth. It made me love her even more that shes not just a happy go camper shes a real human being with feelings and chris fell in love with the Real Selena. I love that story more than the retelling from her family. there would never be a Selena series all because of Abraham suing chris over Selena rights I personally think Abraham should have never won the lawsuit. Even though there was no will, Chris loved and respected Selena. He supported her and was willing to help her achieve her dreams ane goals. He never pulled her away from music or stopped her from singing. The series did him poorly.i read his book and he didnt tell her if she was in or out to be in a relationship with him. They developed their feelings slowly and became a couple. I support Chris and his book. Chris and Selena Forever.

You wouldn’t even be making this comment on YT today because you would never have heard of her if it wasn’t for her father and her family. Like it or not, her family made her what she became to be, and they deserve to make profits off their OWN life story since it’s the chosen profession they decide to go into. What do you want them to do? Get a 9-5 job at Kmart? It’s THEIR story and THEIR right to profit off it and continue to do so as much as they want. Nothing was given to them. They worked hard for their success and struggled many years. So cut them some slack if they are able to make a good living now off THEIR OWN life story and their daughter and sister who THEY helped make and who without THEM, you would never have heard of her 😉 They are also helping keep her memory alive especially for the younger generation who weren’t even alive when she died. This series on Netflix just exposes her to many more future fans. Whether you like the series or not doesn’t matter, many will start to research her and find out for themselves who she really was. So it’s all good.

I totally understand what she’s talking about, I lost my brother 4 years ago and the pain is like it just happened and I’m sure it’ll still feel the same 25 years after 😞

I loved season one. The dad was a fking control freak jerk. I really dislike him. He never let her have a happy fun life. She missed out. 😭😇 Selena’s husband Chris loved her. I’m going to read his book.

Suzette, that was all well said in this interview and gave so much clarification to many thoughts that we all have had, especially your last thoughts that you shared. Thank you for still bringing light to your sister's memory. Because of you, we all will never forget about Selena.❤

Just imagine the career Selena would have had in the music industry in America. Think of the music career she already had, but it was barely scratching the service of where she could go, and that jealous woman took it all away from her. Everything, heartbreaking how nasty evil people are. I’m sick of them, I’m sick of sharing the world with people who seek to destroy.

I personally loved both Selena(1997) and Selena: the Series. The Selena (1997) version highlighted the extensive dialogue between Abraham and his daughter, Selena about how important it was to learn Spanish and the anxiety that comes from trying hard to be equally embraced by her Mexican fanbase and American fan base when coming into the music industry. However, Selena:The series showcased all that, in addition to the details of the hard work/sacrifices made by A.B. and Suzette that contributed to Selena y los dios' success and then Selena branching out as her own artist. Foundation is important, and I'm glad that this time around, Suzette and A.B. are getting the full recognition they deserve on screen.

This interview made me cry. Selena was very talented and was taken away from us way too soon.

Thank you Selena. You were a true blessing in this world. A great entertainer. A joy to watch live. Seen you for the first time when you were 14 years old. I was very upset when your life was taken from us. We miss you and love you always.
