my son passed away in 97 and he loved her so much we played her music at his funeral. como la flor will forever be our song. he has the cd case with him in his coffin. all I can think about when I hear her music and watch the movie is he's with her in heaven dancing to bidi bidi bom bom, doing the washing machine and singing her music. rip to Dylan and Selena 😚

I read on Mac tumblr that Como La Flor was the one she actually wore... But it doesn't matter to me which one is right I'm getting them all. I love Selena so much, when I was younger I used to translate her songs so I understood them since I don't speak Spanish. I know some Spanish mostly because of her today. I loved her and her music that much it mean a lot to me to actually know what she was saying in them!

Growing up as a black girl who loved Selena I stood out amongst friends and family. I would be in the kitchen washing dishes listening to coma la flor over and over again until I learned the words myself in Spanish. And till this day I can sing a fair amount of her songs in Spanish with no problem. She had such a. Bubbly and innocent personality, she's def that friend that lit up a room when she smiled.

I feel like she was the only genuine youtuber that made a video of Selena. A lot of the others just basically exploited Selena, and used her make-up line knowing that they'd get a lot of views, but this video just seems more honest. From the very beginning you summed up the legend of Selena perfectly. She was one of the only idols the Latino-Americans had around the 90s that you could really relate to. Amazing video.

Selena was and is such an inspiration! From her positive energy, to her work ethic, to how much she cherished her family, she was and is amazing! Seriously if y'all don't know much about Selena Quintanilla, check her out! She will steal your heart away! She made people who don't speak Spanish love her music and want to listen to it. She's the reason why I have been trying to learn more Spanish. Oh and English was her first language so you will find English interviews and things. She didn't even know how to fluently speak Spanish (and still would mess up lol) until later in her life. SIEMPRE SELENA!!!!

My admiration for Selena is definitely different than for most of her fans. I was 3 when she passed away, born and raised in Poland and half Latina. I never saw girls and women looking like me back in my country. But there was this movie where JLo played Selena and it would play on the tv every once in a while, and I think this was the only bit of representation I got for most of my younger years. So I didn't grow up knowing all her songs by heart, just little bits and pieces, but I grew up knowing that there was this amazing Latina once upon a time, and maybe that's why she'll always have a special place in my heart.

Oh my gosh. Reading the comments make me feel old! I was in the 7th grade when Selena passed away. I was on the way back to school from a field trip when we heard the radio playing her songs back to back, this was back when the schools let parents drive children to and from.. We were listening to our only local Tejano radio station and one of my classmates made a comment like "oh man, hope she didn't die or something" and we just kind of brushed it off and kept jamming out. Finding out later that she has actually passed away, time stood still. It was a huge hit to the Tejano community, she was La Reina, our Queen. Being a pre-teen at that time, gone was our role model. It was devastating. I now have a 7yo daughter, and brought her up listening to her songs and watching the movie. I STILL cry when I hear some of her older songs, and I recall all of the memories we had growing up. Hearing her songs blasted on the radio at family cookouts, going to see her at the Texas State Fair.

She was truly engrained it our culture, and to say that she has been missed is not even close to the reality. I was privileged to meet Selena, while she was visiting patients at Mercy Hospital in Laredo, Tx. I used to work at the daycare & my mom worked in oncology floor. She was very sweet & gave hope to a lot of sick people. You just have to luv her *;0)

People like Selena just don't come around very often. Someone so genuine and beautiful inside and out. Someone who didn't know how much a star she was and saw herself just like one of us. She was always positive and treated everyone with kindness and respect. She stopped for every fan no matter how many there were. Stars these days just don't care and are so self entitled. She truly loved and appreciated her fans. Most importantly, she broke so many barriers for latinas and women. She never let anyone stop her. I wish I couldn't gotten the chance to meet her and see her sing live. I was only 5 when she died but she has such an incredible impact on my life. When I have kids they will know her and love her. Selena always carried herself with such grace and class. She was so personable. I was a little girl when I first heard her and asked my grandmother what she was saying, since I didn't know Spanish. My grandmother pulled out a Selena shirt and gave it to me and explained to me who she was and played her music for me. I'll never forget that moment. Great video. I loved this video by far one of my favorites. I actually have a memory of Selena when I was 4 I actually got to go to her concert she came to my hometown and had a concert at this place called The sports complex aka the rodeo in salinas. I still remember what she was wearing black jeans and a sparkly sleeved jacket. And I still remember when she died I was in the kitchen on a cloudy day and my older sister was reading the newspaper about her passing. Then when I went to the pulga my dad bought me and my sister a Tshirt of her. I love her music and the movie I watch it a lot my dad thinks it's funny. Her music will live on forever.

Hispanic is related more with language than anything, Brazil is excluded from this since their main language is Portuguese; however some still do consider themselves Hispanic. Latino is a term to refer to all people of Latin America, from the Caribbean to Mexico, Central and South America

I didn't discover Selena until I watched the movie as a kid in the early 2000's (I know, super late), but her music instantly struck something in me that remains to this day. I love Selena so much and just like you mentioned growing up I absolutely treasured MAC so seeing that they collaborated honestly makes me so excited! I am ready to buy the entire collection! I just love how genuine and down to earth she was and how she would always put a smile on everyone's face. Awe,when you started talking at the end I started to tear up. I feel the same way now with this collection,think only collection besides other stuff from Mac that I have always wanted. Now I'm crying.. awe. Thanks Dulce for doing such a great job with this video as always! One of my favorite things of her was her smile,and her laugh. I have always wish my laugh was like that,just so amazing. I lover her personality,one of my favorite interviews was her talking about when she was little she used to throw gummys' through a straw at peoples hair during game. That just made me crack up,cause it's like omg,she can totally be my bff! Ha! I grew up listening to her and I still remember to this day when I hear of her passing and remember the images they were showing of Yolanda on the news. Now having my 5 year old,he even listens to Selena cause it's someone I admire,love and look up to. I hope to pass that on to him,and him pass it on to his kids. I hope her music,and the way she was lives forever.

I love how authentic she was and how warm her smile was. She was super talented and very beautiful. I didn't know about Selena until after she had passed but my mother and aunts always played her music and talked about how gorgeous and talented she was. The things I loved about Selena? Gosh I don't even know where to start, her goofyness, her smile, her beautiful voice, the way she loved her fans, how nice she always was to everyone, the way she danced, her songs.. The day she died we lost a true angel. I wasn't even born when she died but she is such a big inspiration to me and she reminds me to always be nice and good to people. I Loved Selena!! She had such an genuine and humble spirit about herself. I attended a diverse school in Texas so i loved the Latino culture and I remember her coming to the Rodeo in Houston to perform. After she passed my mom took us on a trip of majority of the cities in Texas. We went to San Antonio and Corpus Christi and it was just an awesome experience to go to the boutique, her grave site and various things in the city. I haven't got a chance to purchase any products from the Mac line but was soooo excited to see the partnership. Anything for Selenas!!

She'll Always be a gem. Besides her infectious laugh and humor, the way she danced was my favorite. Her turns were AH-MAZING! I watched her on almost every show she was on and grew up with her music. I was 17 when she died and senior year and was absolutely devastated. First star I looked up to that passed.

I love Selena...own the movie too...and my adult daughters have her CD's. Telling my age a bit but Selena and I were born the same year and I remember when I first saw her...MTV was playing the Bidi Bidi Bom Bom video and I was jamming and wondering who is this girl?! I remember when she passed away I was 5, and I remember my 6yr old sister running around like Crazy and my mom having to pin her down 😖😥 . It was from Univision news that we found out about her death. She was like our dream girl, we had posters and knew her every song. My cousins, sister and I (almost all from the same age)would always make like this "choreography" dance moves, the one I remember the most is from "La Carcacha" lol! You know how the song starts with a countdown, well we were all like in one knee crouched w our backs to the "audience" and start turning one by one as the countdown began 😄😄 I know, it was silly but it was worth it cuz the memories are still here 😄😄

I am from Selena's hometown of Corpus Christi, TX. I still live here. I grew up 2 blocks away from where she lived and I went to the same school she did. I am so proud of Selena. I was also 7 when she passed and it was one of the most horrible days our city experienced. But we are constantly keeping her memory alive here. Every year for as long as I can remember, the community celebrates her legacy and throws a big party at our neighborhood park on her anniversary. About 2 years ago, they started doing Fiesta De La Flor for Selena's memory as well. She had such a beautiful smile and laugh. She was soooo outgoing and loved to joke around. I can't express how proud I am to be from Selenaville. Oh and I think the eyeliner was named after her black boots, since she wore that in a lot of her performances :) but I definitely could be wrong lol, but we'll just say it's because of her boots 😋

Something I love about Selena was how sweet she was. Everything about her. How she spoke to people and how she smiled. I was a baby when she left us so the only way I got to know her was when my mom would listen to her music with me and we'd watch her movie and documentary on her life every year when it was around the time of her death. Black girl from New Jersey here.. cried and was devastated when Selena died. I really loved her English/Spanish album and blasted it for years. Didn't know what she was saying because you couldn't google anything back then (I was 9/10 when she died). I remember using my mom's English Spanish dictionary to translate for myself lol.
