Hi ! Doing on a few accent walls interior I ordered real stone at first OMG they lied and said it was genstone ! 3700.00 it was for exterior! But thank god they came and picked it up and I got my refund and found this gemstone!!! Thanks for your video my husband was worried it was the same exterior stone we just returned I'm also considering the whole side of my house over asbestos siding but mostly my house is stone so I think it would look awesome!😊😊
@SelenaThinkingOutLoud2 ай бұрын
Wow, I’m glad you were able to receive a refund from that fraudulent company. Yes, Genstone is faux stone so it doesn’t need cement, just the galvanized screws and a little of the PL glue that I used in the video, those screws won’t rust. Have fun on your smaller projects with Genstone and I would recommend having the asbestos siding checked to ensure that it is intact and in good condition if you want to apply Genstone over it. You can also apply the barrier paper I used in the video too, just a suggestion as you think about the exterior siding. Take care.

The siding looked like it wasn't flat maybe on video, but it was flat enough to do the job. However, I used the black, waterproofing, paper I installed first in the video and that guaranteed a flat surface for me and extra protection if water did get through the Genstone.

How many panels did it take you ? If you don't mind what was the total cost ?
@SelenaThinkingOutLoud2 жыл бұрын
I purchased 20 stone siding panels and 5 of the stone strips that go across the top. It was reasonably priced when I purchased them in 2020, but now they are most likely a little more so your price will depend on how many panels you need for the area you are working on, but for my project on the front of the house, my cost was under $1k
@muir80093 жыл бұрын
that's a really excellent job you've done there (as if you didn't know it!) and doesn't it just lift the house up a level. excellent colour choice too. but what I'm really impressed with is I had a squizz at your channel and it's full of these rather feminine things that blokes tend to be embarrassed about so all the more to you for going ahead and doing a project like that. it's way too easy to think it's too hard or just not even think that and automatically assume it's a job you have to pay for someone to do everything, but you can stand back and know that you did that. bloody well done mate.

Hello Shana, yes, I covered the siding with the black waterproofing paper. My siding did not have to be removed since it provided a smooth surface but I wanted more protection from any possible rain water. Overall, you need a smooth surface to apply Genstone and the galvanized screws are holding up great and nothing has harmed the siding. The Genstone is still going strong.

Thank you for the feedback. It still looks great and holding up very well. The siding on the house is wood siding and it was flat, placed next to each other so there is no bulging. Under the window that long vertical seam stood out to me, did you by chance accidentally have the edges of the panels lined up? Or was that just the designs in the panels just happened to land there giving the appearance of a long vertical seam?.... i ask because I've used quite a bit of versetta stone on projects was looking to this as a possible alternative that would be more affordable for some customers, But under the window Immediately grabbed my eye making it look like it's not real stone, so I'm Just wondering if that was accidental and I should still consider this product or if that's just how it looks in some spots and being that this is not a large project it would appear in more areas on a large wall
