I love watching Ben learn about the world! How inspiring! And that little laugh when he says "I love you mom!" melts me! Thanks for sharing such special moments, Janet.

Wow he was really only 2? Was he on the verge of 3? He acts older but also looks older. If so this is incredible! Reading your book today :)

My 2yo can do puzzles like this but only because we have done them together MANY TIMES. I am a respectful parent but I think there is a lot of context missing from this video that could make people feel inadequate! Respectful parenting for sure helps concentration span but there is a kind of reasoning necessary for puzzles that won't be available to a 2yo no matter how Respectful you are. My son talks them through with me many times before he can do them on his own. He could not get a new one out the box and complete it and I'm sure this lovely boy in the video couldn't either. Xx

With respect, my experience was different in that I never showed him how to do puzzles (or teach him there was a "right" way) nor did I try to encourage him to want to do them. My older two children were similar in their abilities, but they didn't show him either :)

Would you say it's a better idea to just have 2 or 3 toys on the floor as opposed to 6 or more for a 10 month old?

Wow, so impressive being able to do that puzzle at 2😮

Hi Janet, I took a seminar regarding the RIE way with Deborah Carlisle, can I ask a question? Do you use diaper or just cloth in RIE. I kinda forgot that part. I hope you can answer my question. Which is better cloth or diaper. Thank you.

This is incredible and inspiring. At the same time, how old is he while doing the puzzle? He seems much older than 2 years. And if not, he seems like an exception to the norm (then again what is the norm, huh ha) brilliant boy!

He's only two years old in the video and, yes, he's a bright guy. Thank you!

I wish there was more of an RIE focus for the only child.

Yes, you noticed! Later he tried rubbing two sticks together.

Janet Lansbury Hi Janet, I was brought here by your blog. My daughter is 4 months old and I have been practising RIE with her, it’s been a real challenge lately because she got used to being carried and cuddled (it became a ‘need’)and always need a person to entertain her. If it’s just me and her I always put her down on a mat with open ended toys, or textured blankets. She still needs me to initiate play or she would start crying and wants to be walked around. What should i do?

Why are you saying that the boy who is 3 at the youngest is 2? Strange.

when I was his age my mother was stick me in a playpen with a pot and a pan I don't see what the purposes behind this video period I'm not being sarcastic I'm asking question
@danielabaez84906 жыл бұрын
333pinkitty the idea is to show how important it is not to interrupt baby play, nor try to direct it your self, we don’t have to entertain them since babies are very smart and can concentrate for long term periods on their own terms and interests, it’s fascinating!

@@danielabaez8490 I think its great to let babies play and discover on their own. Good video
