So I’ve tried this feature a few times since its release, and I’ve never had any incidents at all. It operated just as intended, and so far it’s been flawless. I am very impressed, but they need to extend the perimeter behind 200 feet, as that’s just to short of a distance in my opinion, also they need to improve the connectivity because a lot of times in some areas the car will not allow the app to connect to the car, and so with that happens, smart summon comes up as unavailable. Elon really messed up when he said cameras were the way to go and not LIDAR. Summon has been available years on Teslas that have LiDar. Tesla finally released summon to cars in 2024 with only cameras and has these issues and trouble with FSD at night. But Elon is too stubborn and egotistical to admit he was wrong and switch back. Other benefit of LiDar is you don’t need light to detect distance or surroundings, whereas cameras you do. Someone needs to file a class action lawsuit against Tesla and demand LiDAR be used again.
