I noticed some pencil sized holes down in the dirt by my barefoot where I was sitting. 7 holes in a cluster. I could see their little faces watching me from the shadows, when I came close to look they withdrew deeper into their tunnels. I made a deal with them--don't sting me, and you can have your little homes down near where I put my foot when I sit in my chair by the big garden box. I will have to practice awareness not to trod upon them. I watched a video where a guy sprayed their faces with chemicals! What a demented weirdo. I love the bees. If they sting me though, I will destroy them all! Unless it's my fault.

Haha, that's a good deal to make. Sounds like you'll have a nice friendly neighbor-relationship with them. Though sad to hear about the video with the chemicals being sprayed...

plant flowers for the bees and yes the flowers would need to have long tubes

Really enjoyed watching those tiny legs kick dirt out of the hole. Do we know how this invasive species was introduced onto the East Coast?

It is neat watching them work! And no, I have no idea how they came here...there really isn't much on these guys. It could be a number of things like being accidentally transported in a cargo shipment of lumber.
