What i took away. Learn with a clear goal at the end and make it as specific as possible. Set a time frame for yourself. And have the discipline to follow through.

I agree with most of what you wrote here, but he said he was motivated and I think he meant he was obsessed, I simply guess this from the context. You don't need discipline when you are obsessed with something. Obsession is the best fuel for success.

If you can comment on KZbin, you're just as lucky as him where it most matters: you have the ability to do what he did(self teach). He never said it was easy, so careful with your language, don't let yourself use it as a way of sealing yourself away from the fate you want to create for yourself.

From the perspective of a person coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, I just think of how this kid was able to learn English so well(probably going to an expensive international school, or afterschool English immersion programs), had access to mac and programmable watches, got connections hooking him up with TED talk show. This world is a little unfair, isn't it.

Who said you need a macbook!? Work with anything and everything you have and it'll work just fine. + If english is your main priority or weakness, then learn english first, there are thousands of videos online to help with that. Don't have internet?, go to the library! There is always a way, disadvantages can only hold you back so much.

The kid said he was american, so the school little had to do with his English. Also, you don't need a mac to program, any old computer will do. Also, you are just making excuses, life is hard for everyone, if you are lucky you will receive lots of support, but for others to support you, you need to take the first steps alone. This is true for any background. And for this kid. And i imagine there is something you wish to do as well, so i can only say, do it dude. It will pay off!

Life is unfair for everyone. It's impossible to order the disadvantage levels of everyone and fix that perfectly. You don't need a programmable watch. You can program on the smartphone you used to make that comment, through various apps and websites. A simple google search will show you. The first thing towards doing what you think you should do is realizing it's your responsibility, not the universe's roll of the dice.
