A bit off topic from the theme of your video, sorry, but ever since you revealed the Pistol Daisy book cover I had the strangest feeling that I had seen Daisy before somewhere. It was only in the last week that I realised who she reminded me of - Amanda Dilks. She was a model on the SyFy reality competition show "Face Off" which was about special effects make up. It's so crazy. But the cover looks amazing in any case. Congrats on publishing another book!

Wow...you saved a ton of cash! I am leaning toward an editor no matter how hard I work on getting things up to par. I just want another set of eyes on it. So twice as much, give or take, mostly jives with my figures...which is good. That cover though is one thing I figured spending more on. It looks amazing at that price. Thanks for sharing your efforts, Natalia. As always, it's appreciated :)

Pistol daisy cover looks great..my novel was edited by a family member but I'm thinking maybe i should have it looked at again. My book was accepted by Newman springs but I read they are a vanity press and their cost for total was quoted 4,000 I didn't sign the contract and sent it out again to Bean books which after waiting a year was rejected..meanwhile Newman Springs has contacted me again..do you think 4,000 is to pricy. Thanks and good wishes for your work.
@persephone38924 жыл бұрын
Dont go with a vanity press. If a publisher accepts your book, they give YOU money. Vanity presses charge you. They primarily make money from authors, not readers. A real publisher will buy your book for an advance (research, the $$ depends on the genre/length), they will hire a cover designer, hire your editor, everything. You dont pay a dime. You do always have to do at least some of your own marketing.

I have a question, do you need to absolutly have a copyright page or to get your book copyrighted? I know it's probably a stupid question but I looked up the cost and don't want to pay for it when i do self-publish my book! I'm also excited because my sibling is an artist and I payed them to do my cover and a head to shoulders drawing of my main character! I can't wait to see. I'm hoping it gives me more motivation to finish my book!!
@persephone38924 жыл бұрын
Technically (in the US at least) your book is copyrighted the moment you publish it (or even if you email it to yourself, as long as theres a date stamp). When you pay for a copyright, you are basically given more "proof" its your work if you are taken to court/sue. An email doesnt hold up as well in court.

Thank you! I love your channel! I just released my first book "Shadows in the Kingdom of Zaratan" on Amazon. I was wondering (and I'm sorry if you've already answered this question someplace else)...Do you advertise with Amazon? Did you use their sponsored ad campaigns? I was curious because I feel like my book got buried alive in the category of children's fantasy. I've sold about 25 copies so far (mainly to friends and family) on my debut week, and am on Facebook, but now my sales have gotten stagnant. Do you recommend using Amazon's advertising system, and if so, what would you recommend as a daily advertising budget?

What exactly are ISBNs? I feel like I should know this- Also how many pages is Pistol Daisy? Idk how many words/pages I should aim for but maybe 100k words? 300 pages? Hold up- if Song of the Dryad is 100,000 words, how many words in Pistol Daisy??
