Thanks, Dale, for delving into Fiction. I have been following you for a while, but my focus is fiction. I find that many publishers who do non-fiction are not as helpful for those of us who wish to write and publish fiction. I am so looking forward to your journey into fiction and learning with you. My greatest wish is to write a novel, make it into an audio book, make a film then sell merchandise. I am a Sundance winner, nominated for an EMMY and multiple NAACP awards winner as a producer. All that's great but I want to see my story in the universe and have them do well. To go from producer to writer can be frustrating. Again YEAH!! great to see you doing fiction!
@DaleLRoberts4 ай бұрын
Yes, unless something goes horribly wrong, I should be talking WAY more about fiction this time next year.

Thank you for the video Dale that was very interesting & great information. There are a lot of great insights into what you said. When I convert my e-books into print-books I use D2D and their tools for this is totally amazing & I'm so glad you mentioned D2D because authors & future authors need to know how awesome this company is.

Oh, I'm a D2D fanboy. You'll even see there among the four sponsors of my Self-Publishing with Dale book series. Have you gotten a copy of the first book in the series yet? You'll see D2D in the front matter. I love those guys and was over-the-moon they accepted my sponsorship proposal for the series.

Excellent video. One facet of self-publishing that has always made my eyes cross is publishing wide. So many options, and so much confusion in other tutorials I have seen. Your advice here makes me brave -- going to try and extend my reach for my next book. Also, I have one question. Some of my books have an older audience, and there seems to be a demand for large-print books. Also a demand for large print in libraries. Do you have any advice in terms of distribution of this category of format/print styles? Thank you.
@DaleLRoberts4 ай бұрын
Yes, you’ll want to look into the industry standards for large print. It’s not simply making the text bigger. Here’s a great article from a reliable resource: kindlepreneur.com/large-print/ As for distribution, you could hit the same avenues mentioned in this video, just make sure you tick the large print option when publishing.

Hey Dale, 3 quick ones, if I may dare. 1. Best place to design and host my author website with all those intergrations. 2. Want to publish under different pen-names, so clutter that in one place, or make various sites. 3. I want to write multiple genres, is it advisable to start a pub. Company? Regards & Cheers.
@DaleLRoberts4 ай бұрын
1. Best place to design and host my author website with all those integrations. - I'm a bit partial to SiteGround, but shop around to see what other authors use too. If you're looking to use Pretty Links, you can use pretty much any web hosting service that works with WordPress. I don't pay the extra money for WordPress and manage all of that on my own. If you want cheap domain names, go with NameCheap. They're pretty good and I've had no issues with them. I'm not so sure about their web hosting, so proceed with caution there. 2. Want to publish under different pen-names, so clutter that in one place, or make various sites. - Go with the path of least resistance right now. Various sites is probably too much work, unless you plan on hiring out. Maybe split up the pen names into separate parts of the website? Just a guess. 3. I want to write multiple genres, is it advisable to start a pub. Company? - If you can afford it, do it. That's advise I give to all self-publishers, regardless of single or multiple genres.

This is awesome info. Thanks! Is it more important to get libraries from D2D or Kobo? Wouldn't that be redundant? I'll probably keep my amazon books separate from D2D so I can use KU when I want to.
@DaleLRoberts4 ай бұрын
I prefer hitting Overdrive through Kobo Writing Life since they don't take a cut of the earnings. The rest of the library distributors I get through Draft2Digital. It's up to you on how much work you want to put in. I'm okay with the few extra minutes of publishing to the separate platforms. I can hit every avenue I want within an hour with all my work cut out for me. The metadata sheet helps me with the redundant actions so I'm WAY more efficient.

Hi Dale, How are you doing? Do you know where KDP stands regarding bilingual Kindle ebooks that contain more than one language? Is it possible to upload and publish them? And if so, under one of the languages or both? Thank you so much!
