The autonomic nervous system is at the heart of our lived experience. It's where everything begins. It's the platform that is created for our thoughts, our feelings, our actions, our stories. And with a regulated nervous system, a flexible nervous system, a nervous system that can be flexible, can dysregulate, can meet the challenges of the day and keep us anchored in that place of safety, we have a lot of physical and physiological benefits.
Deb Dana, LCSW, is a clinician and consultant specializing in using the lens of Polyvagal Theory to understand and resolve the impact of trauma and create ways of working that honor the role of the autonomic nervous system. She developed the Rhythm of Regulation Clinical Training Series and lectures internationally on ways Polyvagal Theory informs work with trauma survivors.

Sounds True was founded in 1985 by Tami Simon with a clear mission: to disseminate spiritual wisdom. Since starting out as a project with one woman and her tape recorder, we have grown into a multimedia publishing company with more than 80 employees, a library of more than 1500 titles featuring some of the leading teachers and visionaries of our time, and an ever-expanding family of customers from across the world. In more than three decades of growth, change, and evolution, Sounds True has maintained its focus on its overriding purpose, as summed up in our Mission Statement.

Thanks! Can you bring out wise words without a loud background of electronic music? Silence between words is holy.

At nearly fifty-seven, my CNS is as calm as it’s been since I was a child, at what age, I can’t say.

This music is terrible. So dark and distracting. Contributes to anxiety.

I didn’t really notice but it’s dissonant and in a minor key, which predisposes to mystery or melancholy. A major key using life instruments would lead to different responses.
