Thanks for this video. My son came very close to a bugout situation earlier this year. He is away at college studying towards a medical degree. I've been of a prepared mind for a few decades and he himself helped to set up his older sister's bugout bag when she was away in school, so he understood the importance and significance of a bugout bag. In short his school asked the students to leave campus at the onset of the Covid crisis. My wife and I live part-time abroad and he was facing travelling and fending for himself under uncertain conditions for a few days as they were talking about limiting travel. All worked out and he is back at school now, oh, I almost forgot his school is near Seattle. Yeah, that was the reality he was facing. Anyway thanks again.

Yep, the modern version is chocolate and caffeine. But he is referencing panzerschokolade, which is chocolate with methamphetamine. Germans also routinely gave their soldiers a "vitamin pill" called pervitin which contained meth as well during offensive operations. Hitler also routinely took pervitin as a daily "pick me up".

Constructive criticism only for a dude I respect a ton, but consider multi use items! A shemagh can serve as a pack towel, yes, but also a sling, bandage, small bag, shelter component, improvised filter media, even a TQ in an emergency. Those pack towels are “neat” and comfy, but value for pack weight is much lower IMO.
@sethrad86264 жыл бұрын
So, what you’re advising is to use some common sense, stay alert, keep thinking, and be willing and able to adjust and adapt. Keep learning and applying the knowledge gained to your Go Bag. I might suggest one thought...one’s bag should understand one’s surroundings. For example: If the ambient temperature is cold and weather inclement, adjust your bag for the environment. Furthermore: If you live in a desert, carry more liquids. If you like in/near lakes, forests, carry less water but something else to keep you alive. If you’re watching IV8888, then you’re likely already ahead of the game in knowing how to respond appropriately.

When eric said you can use a little sunscreen for chapstick, that is very much true. When i was younger i got sunscreen in a chapstick container and i didnt realize it was sunscreen and used it for over a year as chapstick where i realized nearly a year later it was sunscreen. I always wondered why that "chapstick" tasted funny. But it worked.

Go to the 99 cent store or the travel section of the market or target to get smaller size items like the sunscreen to carry around, You don't need a huge bottle to carry around. Also get some travel containers filled with handsoap/shampoo. Also use the space that's empty like the water bottle and fill it with other items. put your lotions/soaps, ect in a plastic bag so it doesn't leak in your bad if it pops open. put electrical tape over any batteries that you carry so it doesn't short out. carry a package of moistened baby wipes! It's handy to clean everything off! Put dates on all your food, and choose smaller bags. You have too much food! get rid of 2/3 of it use the space for other items! Think of three days worth no more!

Have to disagree. While it is important to know your own skill level and not overreach... In a shtf scenario... You don't know that you won't run into someone with medical skills who didn't prep. I have never sewn a human. But I keep a skin stapler and a suture kit. Maybe I will learn by the time I need to if ever. But maybe I will hook up with a trained pro who can use what I have and they don't. Just saying. Equipment saves lives. That includes guns and medical. Imho
@billyblue9224 жыл бұрын
Lol. My ex thought I was nuts when I gave her a skin stapler. But.. it's not unlikely to run into a doc, nurse or paramedic. Ma,pa.. many these days either are certified or are studying... But the students or displaced pros can't use their skills without equipment. I respect not using it if you don't have the skills. But having it on hand could save you should you find the right friend....

I started by keeping water in my vehicles because I grew up in az. Next.. basic bandaids in each one. Built on that. Rope? My old beat u0 truck plus a rope saved an old couple in a tiny import. They were stalled out on a hill and his plan was to back to the lake lol. When I showed up there was a guy already there with a much stronger truck.. he could beat me in a pull. But I had rope. He was badged out with his shops logo. I'm a geek. But my old truck with rope and know-how made his giant truck useless.
