You could have found a better photo of me, but I'm flattered by the attention. Since you seem interested, let me clarify. I have seen you make tons of stuff in your garage. It was a wooden rake that got me hooked on your channel. The secret chamber behind the panel of tools was genius. The coracle, awesome. Self-reliant when something needs to be tinkered, you got it covered. But the only plants I've seen in fruit have been the Asian stuff, mango, papaya, coconut, and banana. I'll trust you on the rice. That stuff is growing well enough that you could live off it and trade if for essentials. (Of course you'd be reliant on the guy who actually climbs the coconut tree, but he'll probably be family and generous.) But I've never seen you make anything with those fruits. Not even seen you pick a banana off the hand and eat it. I've seen you make, lovingly, knowledgably, and with obvious satisfaction, a ton of farang food. But never a curry. Never sticky rice. Never just a fruit salad. There's just this disconnect between the two halves of your channel. Make me a fruit smoothie and I'll shut up.

I think everybody is a Prepper. Those who say they aren't a prepper are just very poor at prepping. I'm recovering in a BKK hospital after a successful hip replacement. What am I doing in my abundant spare time? Finalizing my tree and berry bush order so when I return to my 1/2 acre permaculture food forrest in Canada I'll be able to add to my 5 year food garden retirement project. My neighbours back home think I'm nuts I'm sure - putting in 8 hour days following Charles Dowding no-dig gardening method. Once a Boy Scout always prepared (I assume). Good video Gordon!

Hi GT, Yeah, the word "self-reliant" has different meanings for different people, but practical people who know how to do things and are capable of self-reliance. Self-reliance is the mother of self-sufficiency, from where you get self-indulgence. That is my take on these subjects.

@gordontickle1673 Great. When I saw it, it was tiny fingers taking one part if the tiny flower and touching a different part of the tiny flower without getting the fingers in the way. Or because this was in Costa Rica where it grows wild (extremely rarely), you can just hope a tiny insect will do the job for you. Unfortunately, the insect does get the memo very often and their work ethic is not commercially viable. 😊
