They rely on VAT etc. putting the cash back from where it came. Born before 1953 and you are on the old system which is far short of the modern pension. The runts will not change .
Pension gets paid to UK Bank Account You send it to a crypto exchange (CEX or non KYC DEX) You buy BTC or stable coin with your pension. Move crypto to your personal wallet (Hard wallet) So far all above board and legal. Later… transfer crypto to an exchange (Non KYC) where you sell BTC / stable coin for your local currency. (Could all be done on same day) It’s a little convoluted, but may work ? But, your cost of living (and being out of this Sh1t hole) is worth so much more than being UK resident with all its woes.

It was bad before, but it seems the current government have declared war on pensioners. We are an easy target. My wife is from the Philippines and now a British citizen. We paid thousands of £s in immigration fees, paid lump sums upfront to the NHS, jumped through all the hoops, interviews, and paperwork for 5+ years, claimed absolutely zero benefits (not allowed), and still claim nothing. I told my wife she would have been quicker getting into the UK and better off, if she came across in an inflatable dinghy!! Great info BTW 👍
@ColinC33Күн бұрын
A good video but as you said most of your sums were on the low side. The only advice I can give is how I did it. I brought enough to buy my home outright as well as my transport. So now my outlay is food and ancillary costs as in health care insurance property upkeep and a few beers a week. But if I did come under pressure I cut back on the beer and restaurants till I am out of the fog. I worked for a multinational and the financel controller said to me I am putting on the company pension scheme he pointed out at 24 that might sound stupid but said believe me you will thank me in the future which I do regular as I was able to retire at 60. A private pension is key here.

The yearly increase in pension it to help cover inflation in the uk, Thailand has zero inflation so technically you don’t need it in Thailand. That said, I am on a state pension & it has to be a consideration of where to live. Philippines as you say you can get the increases but for me it’s not as nice as Thailand

Wow you show great ignorance. Thailand indeed does have inflation. 4 years ago it cost thb 1100 to fill my credit now it costs thb 1900 food and drink also risen dramatically it was thb 3 for an egg now it is thb 6

Great breakdown Gordon and realistic unlike some I have seen. People move to Thailand to live not simply survive. I am planning to move in the next year or two to join my Thai fiancé, but will retain my properties in the U.K. and probably come back twice a year, for a few months at a time. My fiancé owns 2 houses on the outskirts of Bangkok, which she will eventually sell as we plan to settle in Maha Sarakham and build a house on the 15 Rai of land she owns, so no rental in my budget. However I still think I need ฿50,000 a month in line with your suggestion to lead a reasonably decent life. This does not of course include any flight costs.

@@ianbennett6417 hi Ian. I hope you are as happy as May and I. We firmly beleive life is what you make it here in Thailand. Solution: Buy a plot of land of 4,000 sq metres with borehole, fruit trees and ruin for 10,000 Euros in Central Portugal. If you are a UK citizen live on your land for the allowable 90 days in a tent or yurt if need be. After 90 days fly from Lisbon to either Malaysia (90 days), Thailand (90days) or Philippines (90 days). One can live fairly comfortable with rents averaging $250pm on around $1000pm. After 90 days in Asia return to your yurt or tent in Portugal for a further 90 days. Simply repeat the above. The UK government will have your address in Portugal as your home which qualifies you for any increase in your state pension.

I am about to retire in Thailand in the next few weeks and found the video and comments very interesting. 1. Sure I realise I won't be costing the British Govt hospital care, free prescriptions, free bus pass and my state pension will be frozen. 2. But I won't be spending any £ here so the Govt won't get the VAT on almost every item or bill I would pay On balance I still feel I deserve the yearly state pension increases as that cost is way less than No. 1 above I will be registering as a Non Uk Citizen so I don't pay any income tax on my state pension and 2 minor private pensions combined. Definitely won't be living life in Thailand as a tourist If my thai wife starts being over generous with family and donations, then the Philippines isn't so far away. Thanks GT and all the commenters as the content in invaluable

How long did it take for those pineapples to fruit? I grew one from a supermarket pineapple but gave up on it after two years with no fruit (maybe it didn't like being only in a pot -- I'm in Calgary, Canada where it gets down to minus 30C, so it has been dragged from outside to inside every time the temp drops below about 15C).
