Hi there, Wishing your knee recovered well! Did you actually go to football after 2-3weeks?

I just got a LCL sprain last weekend I’m gonna have 2-3 weeks off football then goback when knee feels better. Do you suggest tapping it for extra support as at the moment feels like it’s gonna buckle when I walk. I was thinking taping it like you did ??
@BodyFitPhysiotherapy

After a LCL sprain we would recommend strapping it for the return to sport but it is important to get an accurate diagnosis to ensure no additional injuries are missed.

Which type of tape i can use ? I am a footballer.
@BodyFitPhysiotherapy
@BodyFitPhysiotherapy 3 жыл бұрын
Tikeswar Kharsel I use a 38 or 50mm rigid strapping tape followed by a 50 or 75mm Elastic Adhesive Bandage. The different size is base on the size of knee I am working on. The exact brand I am using is from Maxiplast this is a local company in Australia.

I've got tear in my left knee's meniscus.🙂is it effective to the torn ligaments or its just for a pre remedial cause
@BodyFitPhysiotherapy
@BodyFitPhysiotherapy 2 жыл бұрын
Hi @Danny this taping technique is more for lateral ligament support regarding a technique that may be beneficial for a meniscal tear you may find this video helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4i0gnurqq-SedU. It must be noted that the location of the meniscal tear and size is very important to determine if it has a chance of healing itself. The mentioned taping technique can be helpful in reducing the irritation the tear can cause on a daily basis.

Do you only apply this while playing a sport or you can apply this daily and no sports? Like a support for walking only
@BodyFitPhysiotherapy
@BodyFitPhysiotherapy 2 жыл бұрын
I would use this for sport. If you need stability during the day your skin is unlikely to manage having tape applied daily. Realistically you need to get a diagnosis of what is causing the instability and get an appropriate rehab program to combat this

@@rheaferns3674 yeah, just make sure that when you get back to playing don’t overcompensate on your good leg because then you’ll end up injuring that one too. Your leg will still hurt even after you’re completely done with physical therapy but that’s normal it’s getting used to the intensity of the game, 2 years ago in sophomore year I ended tearing my mcl on my dominant foot and It hurt to shoot so I limited my self and when I was used to let’s say 70% I upped it up, just do that and you’ll be back! Lowkey know how you feel, that’s what I thought too bc the pain I was in since the way I tore it was two people one tackled me from the side and the other kicked me straight on my mcl and my first thought was I can’t get up and couldn’t control my knee, but you’ll be fine trust

@BodyFitPhysiotherapy
@BodyFitPhysiotherapy 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately without assessing your knee it is very hard to give any guidance. Realistically if your feeling/describing instability it is likely something structural and you need a trained therapist to look at it or require a scan to determine the damage. Sorry I can’t be much more helpful
