This is such an important take on how key it is to be aware of your surroundings (as a consumer before as a copywriter). I believe we need more creators talking about this persuasive part of the art of writing and how you sense people's needs/how you can interpret a company or product by looking at their digital space and branding. Thanks so much, this also helps a lot with beginner anxiety, I must say. As someone learning copywriting and coming from a non sales background, there's a lot of pressure sometimes with feeling like "you just born with those sales tactics". When in reality, is just a constant trial and error with practicing until you get there. Thanks again!

True! And you don’t have to be a sleezeball to understand how sales work either haha 🌈👏🏻

That's really helpful advice 7:10-9:30! There are times where I question my sentence structure because it just doesn't sound right. It would make such a difference to have a stronger vocabulary and understanding of literary styles. Thanks!!

Hi Carrie, great video you provided some good detail. It would be great if you could take a well known brand - for example Starbucks and conduct a brand analysis on what they do that works. Looking at image, design, colours etc. Then take a well known brand that perhaps hasn't got their brand identity quite right. It would be nice to compare the two.

Interesting idea - I like that! 🤔

WOW!!! I have taken some classes on Udemy for copywriting at the encouragement of my company in the Real Estate Vacation Rental Department area, to try to bring in more interest. I am trying to teach myself about,the importance of using KEY WORDS to be more searchable, and hashtags. I have understood MORE from this video then I did the FIRST go around on the course i took. I DO feel like there is A LOT of helpful info in the online course I took, like ADIA and other tools, that I can go back and rewatch. But what a GREAT "golden rule" To understand the LANGUAGE first before anything. I agree that language and understanding the audience that the product is directed to will make a BIG difference in how the information is received. If I am talking to builders, I would not write in a formal language, I would write like i'm having a conversation with them. So instead of using the word, advantageous, I might think of using the word productive? ( just thinking quickly of a formal word as example) Where as talking to an audience for a client offering a service to people, I would be more formal and maybe use bullet points? I also like how you wrote a blog for 4 years. I feel like with the company that I am at now, it might be beneficial for me to become more comfortable with understanding how to building a blog that will improving their search engine rankings and an opportunity to build trust and credibility with our audience. This will also help me practice my content writing as well. Also do most blogs have things like Google Analytics or other ways to measure performance?

Good! I’m thrilled to hear that. Pretty sure you can setup analytics integrations or plugins with any kind of blog - like yoast SEO, for example.

Wow! This is a surprise. I have a whole cart full of books I plan on buying. I really want to learn copywriting so I can drink espresso and work from a little house close to the beach in Puerto Rico, and am trying to self teach with books and YT and avoid the 2k courses.

No idea if you're going to see this comment, since this is such an old video, but your content is EXTREMELY helpful for someone actually looking into online freelancing and looking to build a legitimate business. So much stuff in this area is "How to Make Money FAST!!!!" and that's just not what I'm after.

Hey carrie hope u r doing fine. I actually wanna know that i am an introvert person so for clients how should i pitch ?Also in beginning of copywriting journey which mistakes should i avoid?
@carrieblogger3 жыл бұрын
I'm an introvert, but everything that I do is online, so it's a perfect fit for me. Find what feels most comfortable and work to your strengths! As for copywriting 'mistakes,' I see a lot of basic grammar errors in your message, so I'd start by focusing on language fundamentals. Once you feel rock solid with your tools (words), then you can start building in new ways and truly embrace the freedom of creativity. I offer a short copywriting course on Fiverr Learn, if you're interested -- bit.ly/carriebloggercourse. And there are *tons* of videos on my channel designed to help you out as a freelancing beginner and/or copywriter. Good luck!

Hey, Carrie. I recently came across your channel and have been itching to ask you for some advice. I’m a second year medical student with just 2/3 hours of free time everyday. I’ve been interested in freelance writing for a while but never made the decision to work on it purely out of fear that the limited amount of time that I have won’t be enough to make any progress. Do you think an hour/two every day is enough? Should I take a leap, work on a portfolio and start looking for clients?
@carrieblogger4 жыл бұрын
I personally built my business on the side while I was in college. It wasn’t medical school, but I was taking 19-23 credits each term to finish my undergraduate music degree a year early, then I completed an intensive one-year graduate teaching degree. So if you’re smart about time management and you can set healthy limits for yourself, it’s absolutely possible. You won’t know until you try. And if it’s too busy (yay!), then you can stop. Easy. 😊

Maybe pursue copywriting in your native language. If you want to write in English, you need to have bulletproof proficiency.
