It really is such a shame that artistic roller figure has never gotten the respect that ice figure has always received. Roller figure is actually officially an Olympic recognized sport, but it hasn't been included as part of the Olympic Games. A lot of people may not remember this but Olympic figure skating gold medalist Tara Lipinski got her start as a roller figure skater, and won the US championship for her age group at age 9, in 1991, before going on to Olympic gold in 1998 in Nagano, Japan.

I was at the rink every Friday and Saturday night. They were some of the best times of my life. The last time I skated was about 9 years ago. This has definitely inspired me to get back in my skates. Ummm...I did try ice skating and ended falling all over the place...it's definitely two different styles of skating. I’ve been quad skating about a year and a half and these women did AMAZING, which is to be expected when they’re all incredible on the ice already. The comment she made at 11:45 about not knowing where to place your weight and just needing practice for it to click is exactly right. I’ve been practicing turning over my left shoulder for literally months and the other day it suddenly clicked that I was stepping too wide, ergo my center of gravity wasn’t over my foot, and I couldn’t feel confident in my step because of it. The ice skater who said she felt limited by the quads made me laugh cuz in the wheels community, inlines are the more limiting of the two. She just needs some looser trucks and a soft top boot and she’ll absolutely LOVE the freedom of quads. Quad skating is the perfect marriage of my love of dance and my autonomy in life. I get to inspire people while loving myself unconditionally, and no other sport has made me feel such joy.

@dirt6830 Жыл бұрын
@@raph1136 I’m not talking about whether it is flexible or not lol. The hardness of ice varies but it can definitely get up there if not more than concrete. Ice hurts more because its hard and cold. The coldness definitely affects how much it hurts as well, I love the cold but I can’t stand that. I’ve torn skin on ice and concrete and I’ve had way worse bruisings when ice skating, with roller skating the injuries aren’t as bad with the exact same kind of falls. Look, I’m not going to diminish your experience, but I’m going based off mine so don’t try to make out my knowledge or experience is wrong, cos it’s not. It’s not a competition. Thank you for telling me the correct name artistic skating for figure skating on roller skates. As someone who was an ice figure skater in my childhood, I was always impressed by the people who did the same thing on roller skates. People claimed that ice skating was more difficult than roller skating. I would like to make an objection. While it’s true it is easier to learn to roller skate when you’re new to skating, once you have learned how to balance on ice skates learning how to do the different moves, spins and jumps is easier as the blades of the ice skates are lighter than the wheels of the roller skates.

Ice skating is easier than roller skating but Figure skating is harder than roller skating bc they're Perfectionist.

As a roller derby skater I feel bad for Ale in the blue plastic skates cause those trucks BARELY move. Jam skating is tough and she ACED it.
