We learned something similar to this from our marketing class: customers have specific NEEDS/WANTS. When you GIVE the customer what they NEED/WANT, you create CUSTOMER VALUE in your product or service. It's kind of like going to the amusement park. Not everybody will want to go to the roller coaster, no matter how exciting or cool or crazy of an experience it will bring. Because thrill doesn't attract everybody. Some may come for the romantic ferris wheel ride next to the sunset. Humans are unique, and so they have unique wants and needs. So fascinating to see this principle applied to this question :)! It shows that Sheena's content is based on key fundamentals and principles. Great teacher.

I had this interview way back 2006, the lady interviewer said the exact same thing to me even before the movie wolf of wall street existed, here is what answer i gave her. Interviewer: sell me this pen Me: ahm..do you really need it ma'am? Interviewer: yes Me: ok hire me then in my first salary i'll buy you a whole box of it so you won't have to buy one for like a year Interviewer just laugh.. The next day news came in and i was called for medical check and uniform fitting 😁out of the 10 applicants i was the only one who got the job

I encountered this question during an interview, my first answer isnt really that great since the interviewer was able to counter my answer i ended up saying, You may already have one but what if You're in a situation where you cant just leave a room or needs to write soemthing quickly only to realize that your pen is missing? So i told him i strongly suggest you buy one more pen just in case you lose your pen. I ended up reaching the final stage of the interview but unfortunately i wasnt able to go to that final interview since another job offer came that same day i was scheduled to go to that interview. I was asked this question and made the same mistake by trying to highlight all of it's features. I later found out that the interviewer wanted me to say, "Exactly what kind of pen are you looking for?" I had already had years of sales experience but failed this simple test. We always want to overthink it or complicate it. This is really a simple tactic once it's revealed.

I don't get it though, you are supposed to convince the pen you're selling not selling other pens to the customers needs and wants. If the setting was trying to sell a specific pen then why ask for the customers preferences?

In my opinion i think asking too much question on our interviewers looks like acting the we our more intelligent and superior than them. Actually i think it will make them disgusted so maybe we could limit the question a bit like start in a question which is directly related to what are we going to answer. Like for example "what are the type of pen you're trying to look for maam/sir?" from this we could provide an explanation a little bit easier.

Just wanted to say I have no desire of becoming a call center agent, just got curious because this appeared on my feed for some reason so I watched it. 🤣 The "cant" in applicant is not said as is. It's not "ah". It's pronounced as "kuhnt" or "kənt" if you wanna get technical. There are many more words you said that are kinda "off-key", but it's kinda hard to just type them all here. Better to say them out loud. Still, the video is very informative and could help alot of Filipinos aiming for this job. Good work! 🙏

Selling pen is just to exaggerate the customers. They will appreciate more. You also need to tell there's a built in flash light where you can use when there is brown out in your area. It's cheap but you can get a lot of benefits out of it.

I applied for Old Navy Before and this was one of their question. I dont think it was necessary because it doesnt apply to the job. Customers pretty muck know what they want and enforcing something that they wouldnt buy is pointless. Just a thought. Anyone agree?
