I think Palmer is a talented player and "can" score in every game. BUT in the next 5 fixtures he will not be playing teams that defend or play like Brighton or Wolves, so I worry about his points ceiling medium term for that fixture run and think maybe it's knee jerk and points chasing spending that much on a player with that fixture run coming. To word if differently if Diaz was playing 90 minutes like Salah and had the returns we saw so far, people would still consider selling him and Salah soon when Liverpool fixtures change. So why is the logic different for Palmer?

Because Palmer is young and he's entering his prime. and,,,,he performs regardless of the manager. When a player is the flow state, he's basically fixture proof. Palmer will outperform Salah this season. And for 2 million cheaper,,,it's better to have Foden, Palmer, Saka and Haaland.

So u got 4+13 = 17 points The correct decision was to captain haaland and play salah, which would have given u 26+2= 28 points… Meaning to say, there was a deficit of 11 points. Doing the same for weeks 5 and 6 will give u a total loss of 22 points.

Last season we didn’t go for Eze because the shots he was taking were low % shots. Now before this season all content creators were hyping him up. Did something dramatically changed about his shot selection and finishing? Even this season some of the shots he took looked more like a pass then a shot..but those shots still would make up amazing xG numbers.

I feel this is a critical point in the season. They'll be people sitting pretty because they have had the right players. But they'll be a lot of people chasing players and points and not recongnising that we also have europe and lots of games at the moment. This may be the time just to hold fire and get ahead by going for players who have underperformed a bit and we know they can do it. You are not going to catchup by going for palmer right now.

My only issue is J Pedro as i dont fancy picking any similarly priced options (0.9m itb too) Im thinking of dropping Diaz to Johnson/Barnes/McNeil to fund Pedro to Solanke? Eze never was a pick since before GW1 for me. With hindsight, Id still be picking someone cheaper now. The only issue is there are too many good affordable options for midfield this year to fit them all in! Just no need to spend on the likes of Salah/Saka this year (nice if you can afford it but no need imo). I'd love to take Haaland out my team but not even an option with his form and fixtures. I'm kinda hoping he picks up an injury so i can sell him, which would make Palmer my only premium player then. My team would look amazing without Haaland!

Heard you mention a couple of times how Salah or Palmer have easy fixtures vs Aston Villa among others. Aston Villa are incredibly good, they dominated and won against city at home last season and did the double over arsenal too - don't think they are a walkthrough for anyone.

I have Haaland, Salah & Palmer in my team since GW1. This basically eliminates my Captaincy problem for the entire season. (I watched the hr long mathematics videos on YT made by the Oxford Math grad who won FPL in 2020, his modelling suggests it is better to have few premiums with the rest cheap than a more evenly distributed team...so that's my tactic this year) Current rank 199k.
