Is the gravel saddle a rebranded endurance version from 2021 do you think? I’m needing one and they seem to be hard to get hold of. One of if not the best saddle my peach has had the honour of sitting on.

I didn’t mention it in the video, but I’ve also had the endurance version. They’re quite close actually. It seems like the gravel version might have a couple millimeters of extra padding. But that may just be me imagining it because I don’t have both side by side. Haven’t had a good chance to go ride this new one much.

What is the width at nose (where there is usually rub on the inner thigh)? Is the gravel version more comfortable and suitable for road as well? I don't care about the weight difference.
@JMCyclingVideos
@JMCyclingVideos 5 ай бұрын
Width at the nose is approximately 35-40mm depending how far up it is. I had trouble with thigh rub on other saddles like the Berk Lupina and prologo dimension. This one is much better than those. Overall, I’d say comfort is a bit better than the carbon version, but not significantly so. I expected it to be a bit more plush than it actually is. Perhaps it still needs to break in a bit though. Hope this helps!

Definitely looking forward to some ride impressions and you experience with the gravel version! I ride the normal SLR superflow (magnesium rail) and was looking at the gravel version. Have tried a lot of saddles and the SLR superflow is the best so far, but there is still room for improvement that I hope the gravel version can offer.

Sounds good! I’ll try to get a quick video together once the new bike is up and running. Like you, once I tried this saddle it was the best for me. Love the shape so having different options is fantastic!

@@nicholasperran990 No experience with the Fizik, but I bought the 'SLR Superflow Boost Endurance' which I think is similar to the Gravel version, and I find it an improvement over the regular SLR Boost.

Its hard gel Padding, nothing too soft, I am looking forward to the Spring now. Its a big Change compared to the ISM Time trial and PR models I used in the past.

Anyone who likes this saddle will looove the bontrager aeolus. Flies under the radar but its one of the best out there
@JMCyclingVideos
@JMCyclingVideos 27 күн бұрын
That’s good to know! Hopefully a little cheaper too because the Selle Italia is $$$. I have this OCD thing in that I don’t like to use manufacturers house brands on a different brand, like specialized’s Roval on a non-Specialized bike. Or Bontrager on non-Trek bikes. But I really need to get over that because they put out some good stuff.
@thedownunderverse
@thedownunderverse 27 күн бұрын
@@JMCyclingVideos I share that OCD! The aeolus branding is super minimal - the only logo is under the saddle and wipes off with a rag and a splash of acetone then becomes fully stealth. There’s a little letter “b” in the cutout bridge which is a button that just pops off cleanly. Srsly have a look, it’s like a cross between the selle smp shape and the selle italia superflow.

I may just look for one and give it a test. On a side note, I need to make an update video after swapping the gravel and carbon saddle in this video a few times back and forth. My results kind of surprised me.

SLR Boost is absolutely top-notch. I love it...just one thing - it's sticky. You can't slide over it and need to take a proper position before sit.

Excellent comment and something that is often overlooked. Yes, this saddle is grippy and adjustments require a lift off the saddle. To me, that's a positive because I like to be held in when I'm where I want to be, but to some, it may be uncomfortable.

Stainless steel grade 316Ti contains a small amount of titanium. Titanium content is typically only around 0.5%. Just FYI.

I have a maxed out aero seatpost and I appreciate the measurement of the top of the saddle/rail distance. It is critical for me and biketiresdirect could not give me the measurement nor were they able to measure it. I won't be buying from them. Thank you
@JMCyclingVideos
@JMCyclingVideos 3 ай бұрын
Glad it helped you! It’s a small but important measurement, in my opinion. And eye opening to see such a big difference between two versions of the same saddle. That’s definitely enough to throw off seatpost adjustments.

How stiff is the padding? There is no point in having extra padding if it only collapses when you sit on it. It only gets in the perineal cutout and makes it narrower. I would like to know wheter thats the case here, because I cannot try it anywhere and 200$ for a saddle is already a good ammount of cash.
@JMCyclingVideos
@JMCyclingVideos 6 ай бұрын
It’s softer than the padding on my kit carbonio version, but not so soft that it feels like you sink into it. I don’t think you’ll have an issue with the padding collapsing. I certainly don’t have that issue, but I’m 75kg so your results may differ. Hope this helps.

@@JMCyclingVideos I like riding with normal jogging-pants. Its just the way I like it. So I usually use a bit more padding on a seat. Been riding the pr version of the ism saddle for the last couple of years and am looking forward to trying some new shapes now. Thank You.

I’m curious to hear how it works for you if you decide to give it a shot. They’re not cheap to just try out, that’s for sure. I always ride with normal bike shorts/bibs so I couldn’t give any good feedback about riding in standard attire.
@gaza4543

If it’s built like the endurance version (which I think it’s just a rebranded version of) then it’s not just the padding that gives you your comfort, a lot of comfort comes from the shell it flex’s noticeable when riding over bumpy roads but it doesn’t bounce and/or suck power from you as you peddle. It’s a strange feeling but if feels right and once you have your angle dialed in it’s a very comfortable place to be. The padding doesn’t collapse and the cut out is still plenty wide if you do work your way up to rivit but it’s not designed for you to sit there it will lock you into place and encourage pelvic rotation
@JMCyclingVideos
@JMCyclingVideos 6 ай бұрын
Good explanation. Same as my experience. Get the angle right and it’s great. Good to know about the shell. I really like my kit carbonio version and it has some good flex as well, but I can see this one being a bit more flexible.

Ti 316 rails are NOT titanium, is only art of steel
@JMCyclingVideos
@JMCyclingVideos Ай бұрын
Ti 316 is primarily stainless steel, yes, but it is an alloy that does have titanium. So part titanium would be correct in this case.
