It was just new to you because there's no way a 16 year old buys a car outright on their own... McDonald's money doesn't buy a brand new car in no dealership, is signing a car over to a 16 year old either.

Either way..parents paid for it either with the parents money or he had a settlement from a car accident or something...And the parents still paid for it but used the teens money. Still not a flex paying for it with settlement...It's like saying you won the money...Good for them but not really a flex since they didn't earn it

They could've won on another technicality as well. Savage titles must be disclosed to the buyer before the sale. The reason the dealer didn't check the box indicating the car was branded "Salvage' because he didn't want them to know at the time of sale. That's illegal.

In many places a person can register and have plates as long as there is s bill of sale and insurance. Otherwise how does a car get registered and tagged when a car is bought either new or used but making payments.... The buyer does not get a title until vehicle is completely paid for. Think about it

It took me 7 weeks to get my new title from the NH DMV, for a car I bought this past June, and that's a pretty normal timeframe. So realizing at 2 months that you need to look into where your title is doesn't sound that out of line. Our kids got our hand-me-down cars when they got their licenses at 16. The cars stayed in our name until they turned 18, then the car gets changed over to them to lesson our liability should something happen.

If you don't know on a car so old like this 1990 Honda the car could have a scratched fender and an insurance company would total the car because it isn't worth it to fix it. An insurance company has to make the car like it was before and on a car this old they won't spend the money. The salvage brand does not mean it was in an accident at all. It shouldn't be that way but it is. This is how they get a lot of older cars off the road.

Dealer did was is called ‘ a washed title’, they tell DMV that the title was lost a get a new clean title. Be very careful when buying a used car and get everything in writing.

16 year old cannot enter a contract. He's a minor. All my children are adults, at 15, I owned my own car and by law had to be on my parents insurance, just as my children did. I was driving at 13, it helps to live in a farming state and its registered as a farm vehicle. Ergo I could legally drive. I was driving tractors at 10. Also a military license for anything on wheels or tracks. A commercial drivers license and motorcycle endorsement.
