Lovely bulls. As a New England ox teamster I was a bit disappointed that you didn't mention that up until 400 years ago, cattle were valued first for thier working value. To which you owe that lovely physique.

Really enjoyed this insight into English farming and the preservation of rare breeds! Thank you 😊 Season's greetings from Auckland, New Zealand 🇳🇿 We also have Rrare Breeds societies, usually specific to the animal concerned. E.g pigs - including the Captain Cooker (released or escaped when Captn James Cook visited NZ) Several sheep breeds imported by early Missionaries and Settlers, cows of course, horses, and even marsupials from Australia which became extinct there in modern times, but thrived in NZ. We also have populations of birds and insects - Bumblebees especially - which have been discovered doing well in Canterbury. They've been re-homed back into the Suffolk re-wilding areas, I believe. Keep up the good work !!

'Wrong cow mate.' Haha, he's still learning 😁 Why do you not milk your Gloucesters? They produce a unique cheese, don't they?

Correct, there is a designation order on Single and Double Gloucester Cheese, it's national delicacy! We run what's called a suckler herd, so we let the calf have the milk, grow up strong and sell on to other breeders. We don't have enough to make milking them worthwhile, even if we did!
