Great to see a Sea-Dweller on the channel. Such an underrated watch.

do they have the correct hands?
@ianmedium9 ай бұрын
Another thing about the Oysterquartz is that the movement is a high accuracy one. If memory serves it is around five seconds a year! A regular quartz is around fifteen seconds a month! Rolex will still service them and they are ultra reliable. Hendo, you had a Beta 21, Wow, as you know, that movement was used in several high end watches. I have a GP one, still works perfectly fifty years later. As you know, the only thing with those is the short battery life, My other GP quartz, the first mass produced Swiss quartz had a regular battery life. I know you are younger than me but you were around in the seventies and what is now called the "quartz crisis" was back then called the "quartz revolution". I remember getting my first quartz for my Thirteenth birthday, a Sekonda which had a Russian made quartz, I loved the way the seconds hand ticked, marvelled at the time keeping and I felt like I was a person from the future wearing it!

The Seadweller was less than £50 more than the Submariner in the late 80’s. Even in the early 2000’s the Sub Date was 2350 vs the Dweller at 2440
@Watchtrader9 ай бұрын
Pretty close then. I have a 1970’s price list showing the Submariner at 138 and the Sea-Dweller at 153, so a 10.9% price increase. Today the different is about 29%. Either way, more expensive. Aside from price, what other factors do you think contribute to less Sea-Dwellers?
@Alex_J449 ай бұрын
People just didn’t see them as anything other than the same watch. The sub date is ultimately enough and wore flatter. IMPO the Dweller (of that era and before) should be much more desirable

We boosted the sound so it’s clearer to understand so that might be why it sounds a little weird to you. In an ideal world we’d be able to capture perfect audio but we just have to do our best in the shop. Thanks!
