I found this watch earlier in the year and decided i wanted one. So in late May I went to an AD in my area and they let me try one on, I gave them my name and said I preferred the Jubilee bracelet. I am left handed, I have worn my watch on my wright writs for many years. I did not know there was a left oriented watch. I have for years been thinking I wanted a gmt. So the AD reached out to me at the end of July and offered me the watch. Now I have been wearing it daily for more than two months. It is perfect for me, the left side date window is ideal. I constantly reference the present date as well as past and or future dates at work so I need a date. I also need to reference different times zones including conversion to 24 hour time. So after two months I have been more than pleased with this watch. It helps that the Green recalls the green used both by my father in his trade as well as in the color family my company uses. As such I am quite in love with this watch.

I really liked your take on this, but I can’t say I fully agree. I think you focused on the drop in price more than where the watch has settled on grey market. Had the same trajectory as the new Panda, which I don’t think anyone would say has been forgotten about. Just landed higher so far

I feel that the hype has already died down on this model shortly after its release. I know people who have bought them and after just wearing their BLRO’s have sold this Destro model on due to it being redundant. I think that the Tudor LHD is a much nicer looking option at a fraction of the price. The only thing that ruined the Sprite to me is the date at 9:00 instead of 3:00.

I'm right handed and wear on the right and always have, just feels more natural. (although watches are more vulnerable tbf) The only time I wear on the left is when I travelling on holiday with several watches . I kinda like it and would possibly consider one at list, over list no although it's quite possible by the end of this year it could be under list . About a year ago I asked my AD what are the chances but they are very restrictive and anything sought after either ends up grey or to 'valued customers' maybe worth a revisit. I've tried my explorer ll upside down, back to front or left to right (not sure which term to use?) to see how it would feel and tbf it's perfectly ok to fit isn't an issue

It always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of AMZWATCH's watch 99% of people will never see.

It has date at 9 because it was easy. They didn’t need to change the movement at all. It’s just the watch rotated 180 degrees. They would have needed to rework the movement to have crown on one side and date window on other. Rolex is lazy.

As a lefty and lover of green dial watches, I thought this watch was very cool. But, given the high price and difficulty obtaining a Rolex GMT, I still knew I would never get one. I have always worn a watch on my right wrist. I really like the oddball design and it would be easy to set the time with having to take it off. Alas, this guy will never own one.

There are times at work that I wear my watch on my right wrist. Otherwise it can snag on the door of the Cabri G2 or worse, the door handle of the A119 Koala. This presents a significant threat when I’m covering the throttle during touchdown autorotations. Anyways, that is why I convinced myself that I must have the VTNR. That and the colour and the quirky dial. Yes, it would be less demanding mentally if the date was at 3 o’clock. No matter though, I love uniqueness of it. I was delighted to get one from an AD and I wear it with a Marine Nationale elastic strap from Max Project Ltd, Belfast. It is equally at home on my left wrist. I have another favorite Destro also bought specifically for work, the EZM1.1. Chunky and easier to use the chrono function when worn on my left wrist. I also have it on a Max black/red elastic strap. These are two watches that I would not want to be without. They both make me happy when I wear them. Cool tools!

I think you're right that this watch will be collectible. It's ugly as hell, but when it gets discontinued, it will hold value.

I’m a leftie and wear watches on my right wrist. I actually prefer the crown a the RHS as per the conventional watch because it doesn’t dig into the top of my hand. The PloProf would be unwearable for me on the RH wrist.

I own Pelagos LHD and I quite like the lack of protruding crown digging into my hand. This one is next on the list, but on jubilee. As for the longivety of this particular model.... I'm sure they will discontinue eventually, they discontinued the black-only ceramic bezel GMT even though they were popular. Hope I can get it from AD before they discontinue.....

It is a lazy effort by Rolex - they just turned the dial 180 degrees. The date window at 9 is awful.

They should have made it fully reverso with the 3 on the left, 9 on the right, and the hand travelling anti clockwise 😅

I bought an Air-King 126900 and once it was on the wrist I recoiled at the fugliness. I find it curious that so many watch KZbinrs still get excited over Rolex literally flipping a watch around and changing the bezel-gmt hand color. Their pieces are boring as hell and I wouldn’t even buy one at retail if it weren’t to flip it to pocket a few grand.

I'm right handed, I can only wear a watch on my right hand. Just feels like an annoying something on my left when I put a watch there. On the waitlist for this watch, we'll see what happens. It's been about 2 years now, and I have a pretty good relationship with my AD.

For me the BTNR is a poorly considered derivative Oystergaffe. Just imagine if instead Rolex had moved the date window to the 6 o’clock and lost the magnifier - that would have made a destro of far greater interest. Rolex could still have restricted supply (as usual) and discontinued it (as usual) to hype the model (as usual) down the line - only it would have been even more hyped. But what do I know?! 😂
@ID-Guy3 ай бұрын
It’s a real head-scratcher. And since the colourway is so good, I bet they gave it the Destro treatment just to quell interest (maybe to scare folks off) Gotta love Rolex and their tactics 😉 If anything, it’ll go down the safe route 7:00 next… can’t let those bezels go to waste ;)

I actually disagree. I think this watch will be around for about 10 years. It nails a very specific and chronically untapped corner of the market: lux lefty watches, of which there are perhaps a dozen, two dozen if you stretch, and this watch is phenomenal. It's my dream watch, and I hope to buy one at retail. The simple reality is that as investments decreased and people had to decide which watches to keep and wear, most people being righthanded decided they didn't want to mess around with an annoying upsidedown watch, whereas lefties like me (and surely you too, IDGuy) would rather wear lefty watches perfectly suited for us.

The reason they made it like a mirror image is because, mechanically, it’s the exact same movement. The only difference is the orientation of the printing on the date wheel.

You could buy a Rolex submariner for $150 in the 1950's. Not an insignificant amount of money back then but they were solid tool watches. I don't doubt they are still quality timepieces but now they are overhyped status symbols. So I would prefer affordable ones now *amzwatch*

My bet would be on the leftie being removed from the Rolex catalogue by W&W 2026, meaning those that are not already on the waitlist will have to go grey (market, not Bruce Wayne).
@pasquale783 ай бұрын
With the Sprite you're basically wearing a GMT that’s upside-down, with a different date wheel and dial fitted, and the bracelet ends swapped on either side of the case. The 3285 movement is also identical to all other GMTs, so actually operating the watch is not only on the other side of the case: it’s upside down, too. I always thought it was a cheap move from Rolex.
@OngoGablogian1853 ай бұрын
Why is that a cheap move?

Only thing I like is the colorway. Other than that, It is just odd. But yeah. Any even semi-rare sports rolex tend to be collectible. But definetily not my cup of tea.
@ID-Guy3 ай бұрын
The colourway is gorgeous man, absolutely. That shade of green is spot-on (super versatile) but for them to deliberately flip the case around… tells me they wanted to dampen the mania for it 😆🥃
