I'm reading what you wrote and I feel like I'm you. We're about the same age and I want to transition to selling insurance.I work in tv. No experience in selling insurance and no experience in sales either, other than working at a department store - part time, 5 years ago. I passed Life and Health and I'm thinking of studying for the P&C. I'm still with my employer and I'm doing my research before I'll quit. This is also a huge transition for me but I want something new, a fresh challenge. I want to be able to own my time. I know I can do it, it maybe difficult for a few months especially trying to learn the sales pitch. I just need that push and just do it.

"The reason I'm calling is..." STOP!!! Can smell your sales breath from California!! Literally EVERY sales person says this! It's just like saying, "I'm just following up" or, "just wanted to check in with you." You want to differentiate yourself. DON'T be like all the OTHER guys. 90% of them got turned down or hung up on!!
