I came here for the Himalayan. I just bought one about 3 weeks ago and I'm a 1k miles now. It's the bike I can afford. Easy to work on and goes about anywhere. Oh, and I won't get a speeding ticket. Hopefully. It's perfect for someone like me on a fixed income as I can't afford the $150/hr shop rate.

Just finished 2K kilometers with mine and I fully understand the doubts. Still - I have my dream bike currently taken on a long ride within Germany. It sucks on a german autobahn and if it´s windy it triple sucks the moment you have to drive against the wind with the 24.5 HPs. It is not the quickest climber, especially on long, steep streets. Still, I still have the urge to give it a carrot after a ride or a pat on the tank as it is trundeling easily but slowly along any street and road I take her. And it makes me smile whenever I sit on her and ride her in the countryside. So I will keep mine. That it is affordable is a plus anyway. The visit at the service station at the moment does not hurt that much as with my car or a big bike.

As a new rider who is a senior I'm torn between the Himalayan and 390 adventure. I'm leaning towards the adventure because it's 60lbs lighter and 40 hp and has much better brakes and the ergo just needs handle bar risers. The Himalayan is a better looking bike and better priced and the ergo is great but the bike is heavy.

Jimh: I'm 64 and in a similar quantry, though I'm mulling Himalayan-CRF300-DR650. Similar issues, with power & weight & maintenance concerns with the Himalayan (though new 450 may make for a 411 price drop). CRF is new & not much on used market. Wonder if/how you resolved your choice? --Ed

Ear Plugs are the solution so you can't hear the noises. I made my own silicone plugs using dental impression materials. Sheep skin from a baby shop for your bum issue. Cut it to shape and sew in on elastic straps/ velcro tabs . Use laser marker to make sure your tyres are aligned ( the marks on the swinging arm can be out ). I don't think I have ever owned a bike that didn't have niggles; some I lived with , others I modified the bike to suit. For example, my Tiger 800 ( 2015 model) windscreen was poor for my height ( 180 cm) . I fitted a Madstad screen with off -road brackets to minimize movement. The screen rattled/ squeaked a lot on rough terrain. The benefits of the design far outweighed the squeaking, so I put up with it. I think the Himalayan sits in the cross over between Dual Sport and Adv bikes. It is better on roads than Dual Sports due to its weight ( more and low) and better off road than most ADV bikes ( cheap to repair, weight lower in frame, power in not so much as to need electronic modulation devices) . Having owned a Tiger 800Xcx which is a great bike for road and dirt road cruising, I eventually sold it mainly due to the weight distribution ( up high) and it is heavy unless you are a young big bloke and the fragility of the plastic on even a simple fall. I am riding a much modified DRZ400E now for ADV riding. It has better brakes, more power, better suspension than the Himalayan. In windy conditions however, the weight is up high ( 28L fuel tank doesn't help when full) and it feels like unstable at 70 mph. , especially when wet and dealing with the wind from our triple bogey trucks in Oz. If I lived in the U.K. I would probably have kept the Tiger and stayed away from green lanes

For me the lack of power, its less than perfectness and its limitations, make it a more fun bike. It presents more of a challenge than bigger, better bikes. I find it works well 2-up, if you aren’t in a hurry. Comfort might be an issue for a pillion and yourself, anything over an hour or two though. And it isn’t a big road bike. You can’t cover ground like you can on a GS, or Scrambler of course. Great video HH 👍🏼

Had a 2020 Himalayan. Installed Seat Concepts tall seat made it comfortable. Booster Plug and NGK spark plug made it idle cold. Hickcock’s cam and air box mods made it slightly more inspiring to ride. Finally stopped trying to enjoy it and came to grips with the fact that it was too slow, too low and just not for me.

The Himalayan is a forgivingly simple bike with a historical industrial vibe that's not suitable for jacked up riders. If you can dial into the zen of the bike, you'll love it, if not, it'll annoy you. Show me a MC and I'll show you a problem. I've had mine for 4 years. Any niggles have been worked out. It's a fabulous bike that happily contributes to personal growth. If you own a Himmi, who needs a psychiatrist. lol 😄

Have a long term test ride and review on the scrambler to see if it's the one , but if you have these thoughts about the himalayan with only the short time you've had it then it's not for you

Big heavy powerful bikes do not interest me. Unless you have to cruise at 80 miles an hour on the highway it’s more fun to ride a slower bike fast than a fast bike slow

I bought a Himalayan last year as an every day ride to work bike, it replaced a 7 year old Honda which I did 60kmiles on. For the first couple of months I hated it. Now a year later it's been a brilliant bike , yeah the engine is noisy and a bit lacking in power, but the handling on bumpy back roads is ace, it does 90mpg even when I rev the tits off it, I recently bought a 650 continental as a weekend toy, lovely engine but gets a wriggle on down the same bumpy roads , really needs a steering damper. Come on royal Enfield shoe horn a 650 twin into himi frame and you'll have the best bike on the planet.

I’ve been considering selling my 2021 Himalayan after one year. The seat is annoying and the turn signal switch is fiddly. The engine lacks power and clatters under acceleration. The dealer finally got the bike to idle after having it in the shop ten weeks. Just a disappointing bike.

I had a Yamaha XJR1300 and the headlight buzzed on that, I did a similar thing to you and quickly resolved it. I think maybe you have to accept you have to get a little more involved with your bike, ongoing housekeeping if you like, we are basically riding an engine on wheels.

Right.. the seat, I bought mine with the touring pack.. Does it make any difference, I don't know. The biggest issue I had was after 3 hours (on a 6 hour ride) the clutch was really aggrevating my wrist. Got an after market adjustable lever, gone. No issue.

Hello, I've just bought a Himalayan 2 weeks ago and changed the headlight out on Wednesday with an LED one and the metal clip you're referring to should have a rubber cover on it. With regards to the seat on the new models I didn't get the silver model as I found the "leather" seat more uncomfortable. I solely got one of these for the cheap fun to pootle down lanes on but I can already see where you're coming from with wanting you to progress onto a bigger ADV

I like the bike overall for fuel efficiency , looks and fun ride, BUT am looking for something to replace it with that is more reliable. I began having vibrations in the speedometer at 1,300 km. I finally opened it up and found that the cheap thin plastic was cracking and deteriorating into a white powder and the screws were rolling around loose inside it. So I simply glued everything back into place with a rubber like polymer which made it vibration resistant. Now when any vibrations pop up on the bike, I simply use rubber and black silicon glue. Its holding together most of the front of the bike including cracked directionals. Then my rear swing arm bushing seized up at 1,500km and was squealing from being over torqued during assembly. RE threw some grease on the problem and it lasted a few thousand km. The bike has stalled several times on every ride, hot and cold from day one. I dropped the bike 4 times, all from stalling. Tried all the fixes minus the FuelX pro and new cam shaft, to no avail. And the list of problems I have had is extensive. Thank God for ON Two Wheels Ben. It is a great hobby bike if you are into mechanics and working on unsolvable mysteries that RE ignores. It has certainly absorbed many more hours of my time, than I have ridden it. I thought of buying the super meteor, but I would need more hours in the day for research and maintenance and I just haven't got the time. I am thinking of simplifying my life and just selling the Himmy and buying a V-Strom.

Recently sold my Himy- it was my first bike, rode it for almost 2 years. It was great for a first bike for someone interested in anything but highway cruising. Seat was always my biggest niggle. Especially as a bigger guy. Couldn't justify dropping hundreds on a quality aftermarket seat, and didn't hear anything impressive about the RE upgrade. So just suffered through. But for a first, easy, low budget bike, it did ok for me. But I picked up a Tiger 800 and it's a whole new world.

Have you considered one of the replacement cams that allegedly give 20% more power and allow for incensed gearing thus higher cruising speeds? There’s a lot of us Himmy owners who would trust your opinion if you spent the £200 and tried one. I’m sure sidekick would fit it for two beers and an 11/10 cuddle. Careful what you crave. I’ve a hardly used Panigale in the garage but a well used Himalayan! Says it all.

It’s always hard to justify selling a bike you still like. We’ve had plenty of Himalayan content now though and they hold their value incredibly well on the used bike market so definitely could be a good time to part ways. Here for whatever you replace it with if it does go.👍

I'm also one for following my heart but the Himalayan is a 90 mpg bike whereas the Triumph Scrambler is around 50 mpg and the cost of fuel is probably only going to go up...Running costs are going to have to be considered

Didn't keep my Meteor 350 long, that cement mixer engine just eventually destroyed my enjoyment of an otherwise super little chassis! Go for it Helmet, enjoy something with a bit more development, something you might not chop for a much longer time!!

After one year and 6.000 km I sell my 2021 Himalayan. I like the engine, the engine runs smooth. But I have too much trouble with the moisture in the instruments and after one year riding problems with the rear mono shock. This part makes noise. For my dealer, 2 man company it's too much to help me. For the general important company in Austria is Royal Enfield one of many brands to make money with. Everything runs too slow. I want ride my bike and I am not interested to wait one year for guarantee repair. Sorry I like this bike, but not the company.

Get rid of the 'screen'. Just causes a lot of turbulence with no beneficial effects. Probably contributed to your headlamp buzzing. A bike with a 70mph top speed does not need a screen, it's just there for cosmetics. Love and peace.

I've got the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE, and a monkey 125. The Scram is a fantastic bike, with a great engine. But there is a fair bit of weight, and bits are expensive. The fuel tank alone is £1350. Luggage options are limited with the high mount scrambler exhaust, meaning only a left side bag is an option. The official triumph rear rack can only take 2kgs in weight. But despite all this I bloody love it, the sound is amazing ( sp engineering slash cut exhaust). The cruise control is basic but works really well. Engine pulls like a freight train, and returns approx 55mpg, more if ridden sensibly. Take a scrambler out for a test ride, just be prepared to part with some cash though 🤣.

try a sheepskin got one on my Himalayan and one on my Tiger I do hundreds of miles and they do well for me ,as for the Himalayan as long as I'm not in a rush I prefer it because if I drop the tiger and the parts are a fortune and the parts for the Enfield are pennies in comparison

Keep the Himalayan, look what it did for ichyboots. 😂😂 Change the cam and the front sprocket to increase the cruising speed. Many say that’s all that’s needed, but I understand your dilemma. The question is, will many follow you if you’re on an ordinary bike? Good luck mate! 👍👍👍

My himalayan stopped on way to work , 8 months old, 1600 miles. Enfield picked it up and sent to dealer. They said it needed sparkplug and oil. There was no signs of oil on garage floor or from exaust. Enfield hadn't updated and still haven't their dealership so this dealer was no longer Enfield dealer. I had to pay to get it back and it rattles now. Enfield won't reimburse me and don't want to know about the engine.

Wait until 2023, a lot of updates coming to himalayan as in 450 45, 50 hp water cooled possibly. Plus beneli 502 and 800 getting updates and released. Harley baby pan America to. There will be previews and statistics coming on KZbin so keep an eye out. The himalayan is easy to work at but these other bike will be more comfortable and more power.

Mate, RE stock seats are not good. Same problem that have while riding. I have ordered one from Sahara Seats for my Bullet 350, let me use it for a while & I can give you an honest opinion. Sahara seats ship internationally also.

I bought a white 2018 Himalayan last September. Put panniers and topbox on it. Put GPS on it (never used GPS on motorcycle in 25 years of riding). Going to take her to North cape. Belgium - Oslo will be on motorways. Not best roads for Himalayan. Once im in Norway it will be the ideal bike for Norwegian roads and circumstances. Bottom line: put yourself and the bike through some serious stuff and if she delivers, you will never want to sell her. Same thing goes for my Norwegian partner.

Sell the pan and get a cheap GS. You’ll regret selling either of them but you need to do whatever floats your boat. Your enjoyment must come before the channel or you won’t enjoy it and that will show on screen.

I have heard before the brown seats are not great. Just a thought try talking to your local friendly RE dealer and see if you can borrow the stock black seat as comes with the Euro 5 Granite Black and try it out. I find the stock black seat is very comfy. After 4 hours in the saddle sure I had a bit of a numb bum but I could still walk and in no pain at all. Oh and stick a DNA air filter on it, it makes a big difference to the ride in a really good way but doesn’t seem to increase 0-100 Ks it does now me to pass at 100 kph where before it wasn’t so good. Maybe try the seat and filter and give it another couple of months and see how it goes b

Check out ITCHYBOOTS! She traveled hundreds of miles on the Himalayan & loved it! Ok you go out & get a bigger bike to keep up with ya mate going like the clappers where’s the adventure in that if you missed everything going so fast? Going fast means your adventure is limited to the motorways A2B by such & such a time? Yea the Himalayan isn’t fast but you knew that anyway! The best adventures are ones that throw up a challenge (like travailing around the uk on a 50cc Honda!!)Tho I don’t own a Himalayan I personally would do enjoy it more then my CB750 for sure! First things first stick to your original plan & see out the year! Take ya bike up to Scotland when it’s wet & horrid then reassess it! If your lucky enough to go Wots the rush? Enjoy the scenery you would of missed by flying by? YOUR CALL BUDDY!

HD would be niche for the amount of people who can afford a HD and a looking at YT vids - true BUT general YT population looking for 'cool videos' and cool looking adventure vids for general population who might never own a m/bike - HD videos are in the 100,000 to millions of views.. if you're chasing view numbers.....

Sold mine, regretted it some weeks later. Honestly - if it´s about adventure, you can have it with every bike. Is it about channel recognition and revenues you´re too late with the Triumph Scrambler - it´s not new anymore and thousands of videos are already out. Apart from that - it´s no fun due to weight and costly if you drop it. Personally I think that people care less about the type of bike rather than the adventure done with it. Stay safe Q

Sounds like your justifying getting another bike, stuck in forward thinking, I will be happier in the future type of thing, why no set yourself a goal, something like putting on some more off road tyres and do the TET around your area plus another neighbouring TET loop, say 500 miles of trails, then see how you feel about the bike, plus camping, go your own pace, don’t compete with the GS, keep the Himmie and your channel, and get out adventure biking, keep it and whenever you get the feeling to change just realise it’s your restless mind wanting change, what else will your pillon want to change, how about they adapt and not you….just sayin, your great to watch, keep up the good work….🙏🏴👏😎

Well right off the bat, you clearly are craving more engine power. It seems like you are looking for reasons to get rid of it. The REH is a 24bhp, budget bike, the other bikes you are considering are more powerful and expensive. Maybe you are unlucky and have a 'Friday afternoon built' bike. 3 years on for mine at 25,000+ miles later, there has been no real issues. Take it to the byways at Nant Y Mock in Wales and test it there, my REH has been on there several times. PS. It's hard to take you seriously, when you talk about riding along with both hands off the handle bars. Biking is dangerous enough man. Ride safe.

ALL of them for a ''general audience looking at the YT thumbnails'' will just see 'Big Plastic Bike' however .. HARLEY DAVIDSON - V twin.... people see Terminator 2, easy rider, wild hogs, Arnie, adventure, 'how to look cool' ... view number wise - the Himalayan is 2x bigger than the next video you have created so far... firing that bike from the channel could be like shooting yourself in the foot... unless you can replace it with a better performing bike. .. it's down to YOU and who you want as an audience i guess.

Increidible concept of an entry ADV but after all these years still persist the lack of quality control and some some cheap materials on a non cheap bike now with 3 years of warranty and road assitance. Well done Eicher motors! Bought a Suzuki DL 250 and o think i've made the right choice. Happy riddding!

I have a 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan. Most infuriating piece of garbage I've ever owned. Battery is always dead...endless battery replacements. You can't do highway speeds without redlining the engine. Almost no one sells them or services them. Big disappointment. Buy something...anything...else.

I’ll love the Triumph, It is very tall. Especially for off road. Ride one. Any decision is good unless it costs you viewers. The Himi’s are still popular. (I believe that the Monkey costs you viewers. A TW Yami would have been better. Also, ride a Honda 500x. Lots of positives there. Still low seat.

Everything has an annoying factor to someone. The annoying factor with you is that you continually keep saying the same thing over and over again. Yes I do understand what you are attempting to do. But to hear the same words over and over again is a little annoying. It is like I am hard of hearing or learning that makes you repeat what you say, but I am neither. Try again.
