Easy to work on? um no....any work underneath the intake requires removal of said intake. there are many failure points on the coolant system. The PCV system requires an oil catch can setup. The Z32 was released in 1989 as a 1990 model. I have a 1989 TT with 50,000 miles on the clock. Forged built with lots of upgrades, including 8 piston breaks. They are stupid fast, unique and like nothing else. Its good to be different.

That 300ZX is still more car then most people can handle. Big thing with that Z is how balanced it is. It is reasonably quick but also has the balanced handling to match it's quickness. Many sport coupes today may be faster in a 0-60 romp, but they fall behind this old Nissan in road manners and handling. Performance is more then just acceleration times. I amazed to hear Scotty talk positive of anything from Nissan.

This car is the encapsulation of "I like my cars how I like my women, 29 years old and extremely fun but filled with issues. Don't be fooled. These Z's at this age are not reliable or easy to work on compared to other cars especially under the hood. The engine compartment is tight and you have to take apart other parts of the engine to get to other parts you easily could in other cars. I had one for 5 years back in the late 90's into the early 2000's and don't get me wrong this car was fun and it feels different and faster because you are lower to the ground but they can have some problems.

Hey Scotty. Great clip. New to your posts. I owned/leased a '93 Cherry Red Pearl Nissan 300Z twin-turbo. So sorry that I didn't buy and keep the car. They were tough to get in '93 and my buddy who was a Nissan dealer back then had a tough time getting hold of one for me. They had a "HICAS" steering system that really hugged the road. You didn't sit in the car, you put it on. It wrapped around you. That car gripped and hugged the road and wouldn't skid an inch making a fast turn. The ride WAS hard, especially in the sport mode. I guess some loved to feel every bump. The T's were beautiful when off but taking them off was a PITA. Each T was stored in an individual leather bag. They had to be stacked in the rear and strapped down to keep them from sliding around (they were heavy). Forget it if it started to rain. The other problem was, back then, the torque was great enough that the tires would wear down to the bare tread quickly. In '93 times, both my rear tires cost $500 to be replaced. I also heard that after a period of time, although the car was built really well, the turbo chargers would break causing engine damage. Overall, it was well built, heavy, solid, excellent trim, amazing car and blazingly fast for the time. The main competitors those days, besides the Corvette, were the Mitsubishi VR4 and Dodge Stealth, both of which were really cool but you don't hear or see anything about them anymore. Keep up the great reports. You have a new subscriber.

Made me glad I didn't sell my 1990 TT. Replaced oem turbos years ago and at 162K it's still boosting nicely at StageIII at 14 psi. Iconic car. Don't agree with the complaints that they're not reliable. However, will say this: the engine is virtually impossible to work on since the bay is super tight...this is a downer if you're a motorhead. For example, replacing the turbos will almost invariably require you to drop the engine; egr replacement? Same thing. Replace detonation sensor, yup, can't access it unless engine dropped. That said, still love my sweet ride! Thanks for your Z love Scott!

I regret selling mine. I’ve had a 1990 300zx Twin turbo that had a HKS exhaust, JWT pop charger, hks blow off valve. Everything else stock and I spun a rod bearing ended up fixing it and getting it sold. I missed it so much end up purchasing another one this time did things right with taking care of it. I had a little over 400hp with dual jwt pop chargers, 555cc nismo injectors, hicas elimination kit, jwt eprom chip, top speed exhaust with high flow cats, aftermarket steel intake tubes, manual boost controller, upgraded gt525 turbos. I loved the thing so much but unfortunately it was a money pit and i ended up selling it to get a brand new 2003 350z at the time which was a major downgrade . A 17 year old kid bought my Z and ended up crashing it. Now they are raising up in value I should have kept it.

My Z is still reliable at 170k miles. Get them now before value keeps climbing
