In my view, regardless of what religion or ethnics you came from, one should at least go to one of the Spainish/Italian processions in his/her life time. I went to one in Cordoba in 2012 and the experience is really life changing even though I am not Catholic. The spirituality, unification and just the overall atmosphere is absolutely awesome.

Irónicamente, los van a destronar como 1ª potencia mundial los chinos, que prácticamente representan todo lo contrario que los yanquis. Un país con 2000 años de historia (EEUU no tiene ni 300), donde lo que más se fomenta es la disciplina, con una cultura enorme y muy rica, también milenaria, donde a diferencia de en los EEUU con la democracia y el exceso de libertad, hay una semi-dictadura que hace de sus ciudadanos un colectivo, su gente, que cuando se muda a otro país aprenden el idioma en 2 o 3 años pese a no tener ni el mismo alfabeto y se adaptan rápido. Un país racialmente homogéneo (exactamente igual que España hasta el siglo XX) en vez de multicultural etc.

Here in Palo, LEYTE Philippines we have adopted this Christian tradition, but we have what we call "pudol" the headdress is not pointed and the "tais" which is the pointed one. They walk the street barefooted to repent earthly sins by feeling the heat of the road and gravel under their sole. And lm aspiring to be one with them someday. To a closer devotion to God.
