G'day Chris love all your vids, certainly wants me to get all the gear to match my fatbike [norco bigfoot 2]. I actually wandering what tyre pressure you use when doing those long heavy trips? cheers colm
@ChrisRishworth
@ChrisRishworth Жыл бұрын
Thanks. These tyres the Maxxis Mamonth are really bag at low pressure. So really never go much less the 15 psi. Often at 25 psi. Very soon I'm changing tyres either to the Swalble Jumbo jims or Maxxis minion or something similar. I need to be able to go low pressure on the sand. On the sealed roads 30 psi. I have a large volume pump which I bout at Big W it's fairly good at putting air in. I still need to find a better solution. So I can deflate air quickly when needed and pump back up quickly. My bike is getting converted to a belt drive at the moment with lauf forks. I'm in Tasmania picking cherries. Should be completed when I get back to the mainland. Lots more videos to come through the year. Cheers Chris.

Have you always had hub gears? I haven't noticed before. And I was wondering the same as an earlier comment about drinking the ground water, maybe with a filter or those sterilizing tablets.
@ChrisRishworth
@ChrisRishworth 2 жыл бұрын
The hub gears (rolhoff) had for a bit. My sram failed in the snow and had to scooter out. Low maintenance the hub gears. Ground water with a filter foreshore. My 2 water filters have stopped working ages ago. When I can afford one I will go for the MSR Guardian because it's self cleaning and gets rid of viruses also. Would have saved a lot of weight. 😃

Your shuold try a sling backpack rather than a conventional backpack. Yuo can rotate it around to your front and remove the camera without taking it off. Just make sure it still has a waist strap for weight bearing. I find its ok riding with my Sony and 100-400 in it.

Do you still use inner tubes?
@ChrisRishworth
@ChrisRishworth Жыл бұрын
Originally it was tubeless. Then I had a big blowout in the outback. I lost all my sealant in an instant. So I decided to go back to tubes. I also have tuffy inserts in between the tyres and the tubes. Have not had a punture since but the weight is a lot. I might go back to tubeless for the the weight factor.
@CavenInToTheWorld
@CavenInToTheWorld Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisRishworth thanks for the info. Im also thinking into going tubeless but also thinking if during the tour suddenly got flat it will be harder to find someone to fix specially in areas or locations where tubeless is still not used. Inly down side is that carrying more tubes will eat the bag spaces and also as you've mentioned the additional weight.

@@k.whiking4372 It's a MURU witjira trail. Australian brand. Can't really recommend. They stopped returning people's emails awhile ago. I think they go by area 54 ? Now. The pinion gear system built into the bottom part of the frame is much better.
