@tractorboy312 жыл бұрын
@@ElCochiloco369 12v ac? You mean dc. Um im thinking that whatever system you are looking at should give you power requirements so if using 12v dc it should say like needs fused for say 60 amps so running it would pull say 50-60 amps then you would need minimum of 12v 60a converter but i would go bigger and then hook it all to the trk batteries. However i would look into a regular mini split system that runs direct off generator so no bats or converter required as less space needed and no conversion power loss unless you are planning a large bat bank to run system with no engine required and bats charge off trk bats when driving. Thats my opinion

Not powerful enough. I installed the same unit in my T680 together with 880ah battery bank and a 320amp alternator. When it's 80f outside at night it eats up battery bank to 12.3v. keeping the sleeper at 19c=67F for 10hours. When it's during the day 100F outside. It won't cool the sleeper any cooler then 74f. It's powerful enough to satisfy 80% of the yearly needs. Two units are needed and 1500ah battery bank +320amp alternator to meet the needs of a t680 sleeper.
@fnfastone3 жыл бұрын
Is that with the sleeper curtain closed off from the cab? Or does the T680 not have one?
@wojciechzgodowski3 жыл бұрын
@@fnfastone that's with the sleeper curtains closed. It's mounted under upper bunk bed. It's enough to keep the lower half of the sleeper cool. It's ok for a Solo driver. But if I circulate the air inside the sleeper it's not powerful enough to keep the whole sleeper cool including upper bunk. 7000btu is not enough.

what type of batteries for the 1500ah? .. this vid. is the cheapest I've seen for lithium which can be discharged to 10% and get 5k cycles. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaXVon17eaqdbKM You say that 74f is not enough cooling during a 100f day?
@wojciechzgodowski3 жыл бұрын
@@tex959 just go to Sam's club and get deep cycle marine battierries they're the cheapest. It will say on the lable how many amp hours they are. Lithium is expensive and requires a BMS and battery heater pads. Lithium wont work on freezing temperatures, they won't charge in cold temperature. As for beginners it's better to go with deep cycle lead acid batteries
@tex9593 жыл бұрын
@@wojciechzgodowski I appreciate the feedback but I assume when people tell me they prefer lead acid, they have never tried a lithium system. correct me if I'm wrong. I understand cost can be a barrier. In the case of the deep cycle lead acid, you will dramatically reduces the life of your battery if you routinely drop below 50% depth of discharge. which means you need about 75% more amp hours of lead acid than a lithium which can go 85% depth of discharge without reducing the life of the battery. The guy in the above link paid about $1k for 560 amp hours including bms and wiring. That's 476 usable amp hours. consider the cost of usable amp hours with lead acid. A 100 amp hour battery for maybe $150 at Sam's, will give you 50 amp hours of useable power. That means you would need 9 x 50 lb batteries which ads 450 lbs of weight compared to the 75 lbs of weight for lithium for a cost of $1350 for the "cheaper" lead acid. Now consider that you can get 10+ years of of lithium compared to 4-5 yrs. out of lead acid(assuming you don't regularly drop below 50% depth of discharge.. I live in a warm climate but even if I didn't, the BMS will shut off charging below freezing and if I really needed them in freezing temps, I could easily add a 50 watt. heat source attached to a thermostat. They make similar heating element for pipes in cold weather. If you're just heating the battery box, and it's well insulated, it won't take much power because it will automatically cut the heat on and off to maintain above 32F Also, consider that you will only get the rated amp hours out of lead acid if you spread the amps over a 20 hour period. If you spread the amps over a 5 hour period, for example, you will lose quite a bit of total amp hours and if gets much worse the faster you drain power. This is called the peukert effect and only slightly affects lithium and dramatically effects other batteries. Everyone I've ever talked to in the RV world, that has used a lithium system, tells me that they will never return to any other chemistry even if cost is a factor because they save money in the long run. The air conditioner is 12v and a gasoline generator output 120 V so you need to step down the voltage. The generator does have a 12v output option but it is limited to 10 amps. The air conditioner needs 40 to 60amp at 12 V. I highly suggest going with lipo4 battery Fram amazon. Get 2 200ah batteries and you will be better off. No generator noise or fuel to worry about or oil changes. Get renogy 60amp dc to dc charger for 250$ to properly charge the batteries fro. Your alternator and put them in your cab. Much less weight too.
