Semipalmated Sandpipers are rare but almost annual visitors to Cornwall, most being juvenile birds. In fact I don't recall seeing an adult before. So when I heard that there was one on the beach at Marazion in west Cornwall I decided to go to try and see it. I was rather fortunate in that it didn't take long to find a large flock of small waders and after a short scan I managed to locate it among them. As the tide came in it slowly got closer and closer until amazingly it came to within just a few meters of me. So, I felt it was well worth the trip. Here's the resulting video. I hope you enjoy it.
