Hey Min, I had a hectic day but I came home and did the work and its really great, I know it will wain so I am loving the energy (thanks) so I am not going to question it. I was in Indonesia a few months ago and started drawing houses from home and I haven't stopped... you mentioned blocks of flats and I think they can be kind of ugly or raw but they are very real in temrs of where people live so I think they are really interesting, I'm sure your take will be something appealing,.... cheer Chelle

Your comments about being aware of your surroundings when walking around really resonated with me. I have a disability which means I can't walk very far and when I do it's pretty slow- one of the few advantages is that it means I definitely take more note of my surroundings. And it also means that I cannot walk and be on my phone at the same time which again means I'm more in the moment. It's great for noticing things and finding inspiration everywhere!

I'm part Lithuanian and that's the area my grandfather is from :) I've only ever been in the winter but Lithuania is beautiful- and super cheap. I love being able to buy the treats of my childhood in shops. I recommend Riga as well- I haven't seen the rest of Latvia but Riga is beautiful. Maybe stay in either Vilnius or Riga and day trip/overnight in other place :) Some family friends live in Latvia and I'm sort of tempted to move there, but I think my Lithuanian family will shame me haha (not really but I think they will be disappointed I don't move closer).

Hi Minnie, i absolutely LOVE these paintings. I am also a lil bit obsessed with beautiful houses. You said, sometimes, you don't know where to drag the "lil guy", so let me suggest Millburn, New Jersey. I used to live there as an AuPair and I spend HOURS walking through all the streets admiring the beautiful houses. If you decide to also "walk around" there I'm hoping it brings you just as much joy.

Using Google Maps is such a brilliant idea. Because I have social anxiety I've always found it super awkward to sit in front of some random person's house sketching it, and this is a great alternative! Plus, this way it's possible to draw any house in the world without travelling anywhere. Will definitely be giving this a try! :)

It’d be really cool if you did a print later on of all the mini houses together in a grid formation! 😊 Also for the zine you could potentially make it into a double-sided PDF - you could still make it available for a limited time, but then it’d be easier for those who want a copy to get one (if they’re far away).

For more gorgeous houses, you should definitely check out the small villages and rural areas in the Alps. I just got back from a holiday in the area around Salzbourg so I can say that Gosau, Hallstatt and others around there are very very nice

I recommend looking at houses in Japan! It's quite suburban outside the metro area of Tokyo. Japanese houses tend to be tall (usually two to three stories) and no two are alike. You might find the architecture intriguing and fun to draw. :)

If you are looking for house references y really recommend you to look through Oporto, or little villages in the Vasque County (north of Spain Spain) for me these are the prettiest ones. I am from Utah, and there are so many cute little Victorian houses in Logan, Utah. If you're interested in drawing that type of house, a good street to look at is the East side of 400 N or the West side of 200 N or the West side of Center St. :)
