Fuck its good seeing someone's genuine reaction to Zeff eating his leg. That was censored in the anime, they changed it to him losing his leg in another way, so the Live Action is more true to the source than even the anime. As a writer, Oda knows how to draw every bit of emotion out of everything. And Nami reading that book to Zoro.. If this show gets more seasons, that book will be a major plotpoint eventually lol. It's so fucking cool they included that here

If you notice, most the backstories here , the dreams are passed down from the older generation, from ppl who are dear to them. This continuation of dreams and one’s spirit is a major theme in OP imo. It did not show much here but the reason Zeff restricted Sanji out of the kitchen, scold him is because he wants Sanji to leave and follow his dream, but Sanji always worry abt the man. Their dynamics is so wholesome.

Yes, I hope they would made zeff said that if he survives, he would have built a restaurant in the middle of the sea for other people to not feel the same suffering as sanji and him, but at least they didn't censor it like the anime, that part was more impactful, even though sanji's goodbey scene is better in the anime, here it was too quick and less emotional, sanji is a very emotional character, I hope the next season they can show this side of sanji, even if it was quite good in this season

i really liked "inside joke" where Arlong said to Luffy: "i was expecting someome bigger" and Luffy went: "Me too" cause lot of fans including me were like this is bit weak looking Arlong 😂 it shows they knew what they done and acknowledge that and there is lot of of it in show some easter eggs and inside jokes like that what is nice

It's a testament to amazing story-telling that the audience doesn't like Zeff in episode 4, but 1/2 way thru episode 5 when Arlong shows up to Baratie, everyone is, "No! Don't hurt Zeff!!"

Child Sanji in the anime/manga was like skin and bones by the time that segment ended. A bit hard to do that with a child in live action unfortunately. They did an incredible job with it regardless tho

When you eat a Devil Fruit, the sea saps you of your strength and you sink like a rock. In the manga/anime, you see it better illustrated - Luffy's body just gives out and he melts to the floor. 😂

To add to this - powers still work, their users can't actually use them, though. They become too weak to use them. So, for example, if someone cut Buggy underwater his body would still split like usual, but he couldn't move his body parts or make a split himself like we've seen him do. He'd be fully dependent on someone else causing the split to occur. Same with Luffy - someone could grab a limb and still stretch his body underwater, but he couldn't do it of his own will. ANIME/MANGA SPOILERS BELOW THIS POINT Keirosaki/Sea stone does deprive them of their powers, but think of it like concentrated sea water - it's a much stronger form of that element of sea water that makes DF users lose their strength, so much so that even touching it saps them fully of all energy and powers. People seem to get confused by this a lot, thinking that it's the same thing, but it's the difference between tasting sea water and eating straight salt. In the first case, sea water is salty, yeah, but it's not like that immediate reaction that you get licking salt by itself. The salt is condensed to its base mineral and much stronger, where-as ocean water has a lot of other things in it that isn't just salt so isn't as condensed and strong tasting (though salt is still apparent).

One Piece is goofy yes, always has been and especially after recent events always will be, but people get it twisted. There are some really dark moments. After you finish this I would HIGHLY recommend you check out One Pace and watch the anime in a quicker and better paced way. One Piece is easily one of the greatest stories ever told period. I have been watching this for 20 years and its gotten better everytime. Getting to see the Origins done this well in Live Action has been incredible. I really hope we get a season 2 in due time.

There are many real life examples where people survived more than 90 days without food only drinking rain water. Scientifically you could easily survive without food for at two months, provided that you have enough water. Without water you can live upto only a week.
