Most US / Western analysts presumably mean well when they talk about the human rights of minorities in India but are genuinely naive in their understanding of the ground realities. The friction points of majority vs minority issues in India can best be appreciated with the following scenarios / Qs being posed in the context of the US. 1. Will Uncle Sam allow schools that teach hatred of the USA & brainwash students to sabotage the USA from within? Several Madrasas in India do that. 2. Will the US nationalize operations of & donations to Churches, yet give freedom of operations to Jewish & Hindu Temples, Muslim mosques, etc., offer salaries to the employees of such minority institutions but NOT to the employees of Churches, and distribute some of the donations to the Churches to mosques & temples (but not the other way around? This happens in many states in India. 3. Will the US laws allow different civil laws for minorities depending on their religion? E.g. will a US Muslim be allowed not to have to pay alimony because his religion says so? Will US civil laws allow a Muslim to have up to 4 wives because his religion allows it? OR should the civil laws be the same for all US citizens & permanent residents irrespective of their religion? Happens in India. 4. Will the US Govt pay for minorities to visit religious shrines in other countries but not do the same for its own majority population? This happens in India for Muslims going for the Haaj to Saudi Arabia - even most Muslim nations do not do this. 5. Will the US allow only minorities (non-Christian) to run religion-based schools but prohibit the majority (Christians) from running academic institutions? This too happens in India. 6. Will the USA allow descendants of Western Europe to teach their own version of history claiming that they once ruled the US, that it is their right to rule the US again, that they owe allegiance to past European rulers and not to the current democratic America? Many Muslims in India do so even if they are not even descendants of the foreign invaders. In fact, behind most Muslims of India are the forced conversions, killings of their forefathers, and rapes of their ancestor women but Madrasas teach them false history. 7. Does the US not have different pathways & timelines for immigrants with different backgrounds (refugees/asylum seekers, highly educated, laborers, relatives of citizens, etc.)? If Christians were a minority in Mexico & Canada and abused/harassed because of their religion, would the US not give them an accelerated pathway toward immigration & citizenship? Why should the answers/remedies of India to similar issues be different from those of the USA? Both are democratic & secular countries. Thinking that India needs different solutions to these Qs than the US is the real issue here that most well-meaning yet naive analysts do not understand. Insisting that India has communal issues because the US & the West does not understand real issues & their nuances is downright arrogant, delusional & condescending. Narendra Modi is only as much a Hindu Nationalist leader as, say Donald Trump or Joe Biden are Christian Nationalist leaders of the US. If & when the Muslim population exceeds 10-20% in the US, Uncle Sam will be dealing with the same issues that India is dealing with for decades. So, US & western media, in general, need to wake up & stop sounding like broken records of "copy-paste" journalism. Instead, learn from India's experiences & empathize.

not really, In the US, Black people only have left-wing social privileges when politics are at the fore, and some affirmative action. muslims in india have the social privileges from the left wing, but upper-class muslims actually have entrenched institutional power, and as a group they have certain religious privileges that other groups, especially the majority, do not. however, they do not have any affirmative action (though there is a conversation bubbling to include backward-caste muslims into the affirmative action ambit, but unlikely).

India is the only nation where majority (Hindus) are supporting Uniform Civil law, which aims to build provisions of bringing all Indians, Hindus, muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jews, Jain's , etc will be seen as a unit to Indian community with similar rights. But, guess what an Indian minority (muslims) are not in favour of the Uniform civil code and threatening govt to remove muslims from this code. This concludes that Indian muslims have more rights and freedom, to do whatever they like than the majority Hindus.
@sansin6250
@sansin6250 Жыл бұрын
Black people in the US are coming out of oppression. Muslims of India, on the other hand, have a completely different problem. Muslim rulers have ruled over India and enslaved Hindus for centuries, and for that reason they have a very hard time coming to terms with a Hindu ruled India. Their madrassah clerics remind them regularly, that Hindus are inferior and born to be ruled by Muslims, that Muslims are born to dominate and rule over Hindus. Muslims in India are thus torn between their continued insecurity and projected superiority complex, which prevent most of them from living a normal mainstream life alongside Hindus. Of course their is a small percentage of Muslims who are well educated and tolerant, who don't have this superiority mindset, and they are very well accomplished and successful in their lives. But unfortunately, the large majority of madrassah educated intolerant Muslims make it very hard to leave the past behind and move ahead as a cohesive society.

About 500 year of foreign occupation with 200 of colonialism .... India is a strong democracy and people like it that way.....we debate, we oppose....we remove politician...it's not advanced democracy.....because everyone is not rich, everyone isn't educated...It will happen. Senator sounds a positive minded refreshing individual. May lord bless him in his career. India has had 1000 years of shame, India's glorious universities were destroyed by Islamic turks. Nalanda University in Bihar was burned for 3 months by Bakthiyar Khilji, so much ancient knowledge was lost. China's Kung fu was founded by Indian prince Bodhi. United States is the epicenter of science and business and India has World 's youth factory. Together, the future will be union of good times.

Its time the West climbed down from their high horse and stopped lecturing India on the freedom of minorities etc. Minorities (Muslims) in India have better lives in India than Blacks in US or had they gone to Pakistan at the time of partition. India is not perfect, we have issues to work on but Western media, especially the Left-leaning cabal, which also includes elites who used to rule India earlier tend to blow up the issues in India. E.g. The cabal keeps harping on the unfortunate riots which happened in Gujarat under Mr. Modi's leadership 22 yrs ago. India's then ruling party, the Congress party (which happens to be the darling of the Cabal) tried to pin the blame on Mr. Modi but failed for many years. Even India's Supreme Court absolved him. But people still keep blaming him, without ever mentioning that the riots were in retaliation to a group of Muslim gents torching down train killing 58 Hindu pilgrims. Yes, there are still stray incidents of communal tensions and crimes BUT does Mr. Biden get blamed for police brutality against Blacks? Why not? Different standards? India is a complex nation and we welcome US's friendship, but we will never be anyone's lapdog.

Many riots have happened since 2002 in other states as well especially in my state UP. None of the politicians or the political party got blamed for it or charged for it. 2002 was a big failure of Modi as a CM. If riots were a rarity in India at the time the. He wouldn't have been elected as the CM and PM. Since the people know the ground reality about how common these riots are and how it was the first instance where a CM got charged for it. It kind of made him a victim and when he came clean out of it he became a hero. A big blunder by Congress.

India has EVM voting machines they are 100% stable and reliable system. Mzlm community of India benefits from all the secular laws we have in constitution but they work against India and commit religious crimes. Waqf law enables them to claim anyone's land as mzlm property and the person cant even go to court, Indian Waqf(mzlm) Board owns 3rd largest land area in India after Army and Railway. India is the only country which was subdued by minority population for 1000 yrs and yet claim they are under threat. Modi has transformed India while previous rulers kept Indians poor so their one ruling family can control the population. We have became stronger more free and embrace our ancient culture, it's helping our economy and people.

The Election Commission makes sure that no voter is more than half a mile away from a polling booth, in a country of 1.4 billion people where the temperatures range from -10 F in the Himalayas , to 120 degrees in the Thar deserts. With polling booths straddling the coasts of the Arabian sea, Indian Ocean, bat if Bengal, the Tibet border region, tropical northeastern rainforests. And yes- people do not storm the capital after election results..

I personally think Modi is doing the right thing. If you think about it, a demographic dividend is a double edged sword that can go south very quickly if the right conditions are not created. A large youthful contingent of unemployed and frustrated people is a recipe for high crime and social unrest. Modi obviously recognizes that and is moving forward at full speed to create those positive conditions - education, jobs and, yes, even health care. As he mentioned in his address to Congress, can you imagine providing free health care to 500 million people? For a developing country? You call that a human rights violation? Housing for 500 million people - you call that a human rights violation? When was the last time we provided free housing for homeless people right here in the good ole US of A? We have a fraction of the number that India has. Do you really think they love loving in the underpasses of LA? I think this is one of the shrewdest moves that America can make.

Sadly, many from 2 particular faiths are just the opposite: less tolerant, fundamentalists, hell bent on conversion and hate for all values Indian. How will US-India trade will grow to 500B or more with such Hinduphobia and laws biased against Indians coming to USA? If democracy is going to survive for mankind, then in my opinion, India is even more important than USA due to its sheer size - almost 20% of world's population in that one cluster lives democracy in all of its noise, idiosyncrasies, disappointments and exuberance! USA and India together are capable of bending the world towards a more peaceful planet.

The Muslims in India have full Right and yet they are crying, in the christian countries you wouldn't allow Muslims to spread as rapidly as they are spreading in India. At the expense of Hindus as their numbers aren't increasing. India is a diverse nation with people of all faiths Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Animism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Atheism, Baháʼí Faith, etc. As well as diversity in Languages and still call them intolerant.

Actually US. and Indian values stand for freedom and liberation of human being. US emphasis on equality, political freedom , rights enshrined in law and age old Indian concepts of Moksha, Nirvana essentially exist to make a man free. Nope. Those countries are on a long slope downwards. You see, demographics matter. India is the one large country that will grow for the next 40 years at least. And America is all about growth, always looking for the next growth area/market, etc. The White House wasn't wrong; this will be the defining partnership of the next 50 years if not the next century.

@@blokin5039 That's exactly what people were saying about China 30 years ago. Maybe you're too young for it, but _I_ remember. China was WAAY more of a basket case than independent India ever has been. China's Great Leap Forward was a gigantic and needless disaster, killing about 60 _MILLION_ people by starvation. India by contrast has never had famines since independence; that was a special hallmark of the British mismanagement of colonial India. If China could do it, not only will India: it will go further, and longer.
@ArmageddonIsHere
@ArmageddonIsHere Жыл бұрын
@@blokin5039 There is a psychological phenomenon called "recency bias": a tendency to think that what has happened in the past will continue. This causes people to fail to see when a trend has changed. This is what now makes people think China is on its way to becoming an overweening superpower, while discounting India. But the trend is now changing: China has peaked, and, among other things due to poor demographics, is on its way down, whereas India, the chronic underperformer, is now finally getting its act together.

India may grow faster in the future thanks to preferential policies from Western countries, but corruption and ineffective government will prevent it from becoming the next Chinese miracle. A poor country must have a strong and efficient government to catch up quickly with the developed world. Not one of the 87 economies with a population of more than 10 million has developed under a democratic system, let alone India's 1.4 billion people.

As countries move up in the socio-economic ladder, corruption and chaos tend to decline. While I agree with your statement that India will never be a miracle like China, I also can tell you that India will be a miracle in its own way. India is not a country like what you see elsewhere in the world. It is rather a lesson on organized chaos, unique in every sense.
